Do you want to work with technology and contribute to safe travel? SJ is looking for a lathe operator who wants to work with Sweden's first OFP robot and cutting-edge maintenance. The employment begins with theoretical and practical paid basic training in lathe work.

Your upcoming role

As a lathe operator at SJ, you will work on turning and maintaining wheelsets for our trains - a crucial function to ensure safe travel for passengers. You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring that our vehicles meet high technical standards and safety requirements, in a safety-classified position. We are facing an exciting development with Sweden's first OFP robot, which uses ultrasound to check the condition of the wheels. You will be part of SJ's maintenance operations within the Vehicle division, a service that operates around the clock - which means working in three shifts.

You will work with:

• Turning wheelsets on rail-bound vehicles and wagons

• Measuring and documenting wheel profiles and wear

• Dismantling and assembling wheelsets in connection with replacement or repair

• Troubleshooting and repairing lathes and auxiliary equipment

• Routine maintenance of machines: lubrication, cleaning, and checking tools/workshop

Expectations for the candidate

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in mechanics and machining. You are meticulous, solution-oriented, and enjoy working both independently and in a team. You have the ability to plan your work, follow instructions, and document deviations. It is an advantage if you are curious about the new OPF robot in the lathe and want to learn more.

We see that you have:

• Experience in workshop work, preferably with turning or similar machining

• Good understanding of drawings and measurement techniques

• Swedish spoken and written

• Some computer skills

Meritorious:

• Education in lathe work or workshop technology

• Experience working with wheelsets or heavy vehicles

• Forklift and overhead crane licenses
