Assistant Nurse at the Intensive Care Unit in Gävle

At the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Gävle, we are about 70 employees working together in a pleasant and patient-focused environment. We support all units at Gävle Hospital and offer six intensive care beds. An important part of our operations is also the Mobile Intensive Care Group (MIG). Through our follow-up clinic, we receive valuable feedback from patients and relatives, which helps us continuously develop our care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an assistant nurse at the Intensive Care Unit in Gävle, you will work in patient-centered care alongside nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and other assistant nurses. In this role, it is important that you have the ability to recognize both the needs of patients and their relatives and contribute to a safe and respectful care environment. The ICU operates around the clock, which means you will work uncomfortable hours such as days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

In your daily work, you will, among other things, care for and monitor critically ill or injured patients who require advanced nursing and advanced medical technology, such as ventilators and dialysis. You will work in a team with a nurse, and together you will be responsible for 1-2 patients, where the care needs vary depending on the patient's condition.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is confident in their professional role as an assistant nurse and who enjoys a varied and dynamic work environment. You appreciate working together with others and contribute to good collaboration by being attentive and communicative towards colleagues, patients, and relatives. As a person, you are empathetic, calm, stable, and responsible, with the ability to make well-founded decisions even in pressured situations. You are flexible and proactive and can easily switch between independent work and teamwork.

To succeed in this role, you should:

• be a trained assistant nurse
• have previous work experience in emergency care
• be able to communicate in Swedish in both spoken and written form at least at C1 level.

If you also have previous work experience in intensive care, that is a merit.

Information about the title assistant nurse

As of July 1, 2023, the title assistant nurse will be a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse in healthcare and social services. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in healthcare and social services, but with a different title than assistant nurse. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
