Actors sought for Eketorp Castle summer 2026

Do you want to step right into history and meet visitors in a unique and vibrant cultural environment? Eketorp Castle – Öland's only reconstructed ancient fortress and one of the island's largest attractions – is looking for actors for the summer of 2026.

Eketorp Castle is run by Mörbylånga Municipality and is a cultural-historical destination in southern Öland.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an actor at Eketorp Castle, you will help bring the Iron Age and Middle Ages to life through dramatizations, role-playing, and public activities. You will work in character, portraying people who may have lived at the fortress, such as a castle dweller, merchant, or chieftain. The work is based on improvisation, historical storytelling, and close contact with the audience, often outdoors in period-appropriate environments.

Your role will also include shared tasks with other castle staff, such as contributing to a pleasant environment, participating in daily activities (e.g., archery, crafts, and object displays), light cleaning, and feeding and caring for the castle's animals.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are comfortable meeting people, enjoy being in the spotlight, and have a genuine interest in history and storytelling.

Experience in acting, role-playing, or improvisation, educational work, historical reenactment, or similar is a plus.

OTHER

The position is a seasonal employment from June to August 2026 with scheduled work. There is an opportunity for extra work during spring and autumn in connection with special events. A driver's license is advantageous. During the employment period, there is an option to rent accommodation near Eketorp Castle at a favorable cost. Introduction and training will take place during joint training days on June 15-16.
