Waste Engineer at Mjölby Municipality

The Community Building Administration is one of Mjölby Municipality's six administrations, responsible for several central community functions. With approximately 450 employees, we work with planning, development, and management of the municipality's infrastructure, properties, parks, and outdoor environments. The administration is also responsible for water and sewage operations, waste management, meal services, cleaning, and emergency services.
The Waste Department has about 35 employees distributed across three units.
The Waste Unit currently consists of 14 employees who work with management, development, administration, and collection of household waste in-house, while sludge collection is done by a contractor. The Hulje recycling center is operated in-house.
Municipalities have received an expanded mandate that brings new challenges and requires the development of operations and its systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a waste engineer with us, you will work with the fulfillment of laws within the environmental and occupational safety areas and have contact with relevant authorities. The waste engineer presents the unit's cases/information to the politicians. You will also work on the construction and development of fees, regulations, plans, and follow-up on goals and statistics. The position includes some participation in procurements. The waste engineer participates in and leads various projects related to the goals and development of the operations. The waste engineer advises and provides support on issues regarding waste, including information on the website and feedback from residents and businesses. Directly reporting to the operations manager of the waste unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
You should have a university degree with a focus on the environment, covering at least three but preferably five years of full-time studies or equivalent.
It is an advantage if you have experience or education in law or economics.
The position requires good computer skills, and you should be proficient in the Office suite.
A driver's license (B) is desirable.
It is also advantageous if you have several years of experience working with environmental legislation, either on the execution or supervision side. Experience from a politically governed organization and procurements according to the Public Procurement Act is also advantageous.
You have the ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in various contexts and functions.
You have the ability to speak clearly and exude credibility and confidence. You can hold presentations, lectures, and training sessions and adapt them to the audience's needs and feedback.
You have the ability to write clearly, concisely, and well-structured, and can adapt your texts based on the intended audience.
You have the ability to carefully analyze and assess different types of data to draw well-considered conclusions and create effective solutions.
