The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units.

At the Psychiatric Clinic, we work for equitable care for all and nursing based on research and clinical experience.

The Psychiatric Clinic is now located in a newly built facility where the care environment is characterized by the importance of the care environment in promoting health. The work environment is supported by modern technology and research, which is evident in the lighting and communication systems. The clinic is climate-smart through self-sufficiency in electricity and heating.

We are looking for nursing assistants/caregivers for inpatient care at the Psychiatric Clinic in Umeå for summer temporary positions.

The wards in need of summer temporary staff are:

• Ward 1 is an acute psychiatric ward that cares for patients with anxiety and neuropsychiatric diagnoses, as well as patients who have not previously had contact with psychiatry.
• Ward 2 focuses on psychosis and affective disorders.
• Ward 4 is a dependency ward with an associated detoxification unit.
• The forensic psychiatry unit cares for patients who have been sentenced to care or who are deprived of liberty and in need of acute psychiatric care.
• The acute and assessment reception caters to a broad psychiatric patient group. The reception's mission includes psychiatric emergency care, diagnostics, and treatment.

To ensure you feel secure in your tasks, you will receive introduction, training, and supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant/caregiver with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.

The primary task of the nursing assistant/caregiver is to support and motivate the patient to manage their daily life, often through conversation. The work often includes performing everyday activities.

The nursing assistant/caregiver is often the contact person or part of a care team for one or more patients. This means being the one closest to the patient and their relatives and having a coordinating role in meetings with various instances.

In your role as a nursing assistant/caregiver, tasks include sampling, somatic checks, and dressings.

Documentation in the journal system is part of the work.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a recognized nursing education equivalent to caregiver training or nursing assistant training.

You are also welcome to apply if you are studying at:

• Nursing program (completed term 3)
• Medical program (completed term 5)
• Psychology program (completed term 4)
• Social work program (completed term 6)

Alternatively, you have documented experience in care work.
