About the Company
Every time you fly, almost anywhere in the world, it is likely that GKN Aerospace is helping you on your way. GKN's technology and components are used in 90% of the world's aircraft, from small and large passenger planes, business jets, to the world's most advanced fighter jets. They also design and manufacture innovative components for space systems.
GKN Aerospace is now looking for a wax assembler for its foundry in Hallstahammar. The wax assembly is one of the first steps in the manufacturing chain and a crucial part of the process where details are prepared for further processing in precision casting.
Your Responsibilities
In the role of wax assembler, you will work with the assembly of wax details onto a tree, which is the starting point for the entire casting process. The work is performed manually and requires great precision, patience, and the ability to follow instructions in detail. You work methodically and with high precision, as your work lays the foundation for the quality in the subsequent steps of the process.
The work is mostly performed while sitting and involves fine motor skills in a calm but concentration-demanding environment. You will be part of a larger team and report to a team leader.
Your responsibilities include, among other things:
Assembling wax details onto a tree through manual work.
Following instructions, drawings, and images for correct assembly.
Performing visual inspections of wax details and finished wax trees.
Preparing wax details for assembly through dimensional checks and defect control of the product.
Repairing defects with repair wax or scraping off material as needed.
Ensuring that the details are correctly assembled for the next process step.
The position is initially daytime but may eventually shift to two shifts.
Working Hours 2-shift
Morning: 06:00–14:00 (Monday–Thursday), 06:00–12:00 (Friday)
Afternoon: 14:00–22:00 (Monday–Thursday), 12:00–18:00 (Friday)
Your Profile
We are looking for someone who enjoys careful and fine motor work and has the patience to work methodically for longer periods. You are calm, structured, and have an easy time following instructions. The role suits you if you enjoy craft-like tasks and have a steady hand.
Previous experience is not a requirement, but it is an advantage if you have worked with similar tasks in crafts, assembly, soldering, or other precision work. The most important thing is your attitude, precision, and willingness to do things right from the start.
We would like you to:
Be meticulous and have good fine motor skills.
Enjoy sitting and concentration-demanding work.
Have patience and work calmly and methodically.
Have experience in craft work, assembly, or similar (meritorious).
Have completed high school education.
Have a B driver's license.
The work may occasionally involve handling chemicals, which requires the use of face protection.
Application Procedure In this recruitment, GKN Aerospace collaborates with Skill. The position involves a consultancy assignment for 6 months with very good opportunities for extension or employment with GKN.
If you have questions about the position, please feel free to contact the responsible recruiter [email protected]
