Following the departure of one of our school librarians to another assignment, we are now announcing a full-time position as a school librarian. The position is shared between Strandskolan and Fladängskolan during the spring term of 2026, but from the autumn term of 2026, the position will belong solely to Fladängskolan. Strandskolan has approximately 180 students from preschool to grade 3. Fladängskolan has about 395 students from preschool to grade 6. Both schools have well-equipped and suitable school libraries, as well as a well-established collaboration with school management and other educational staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a person with a pedagogical approach and knowledge of reading, language development, information retrieval, and source criticism. Together with the teachers at the school, you will work towards high goal fulfillment for the students. You will do this by leading and participating in educational activities in the library and in classrooms. You will be part of a network with other school librarians in Lomma Municipality.

Additionally, the following responsibilities are included in your assignment:

• Strengthening students' language skills and digital competence.
• Participation/driving of reading-promoting areas.
• Teaching in information retrieval/management and source criticism.
• Organizing cultural activities.
• Working for digital and traditional reading comprehension.
• Teaching in MIK (media and information literacy)

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library and Information Science. Knowledge of and interest in pedagogical work. Good knowledge of children's and youth literature. Experience in leading discussion groups about literature with students and working with MIK in relation to children and youth is desirable. Previous experience as a school librarian and other educational work within schools is an advantage.

You should enjoy working with children and youth, be outgoing, easy to collaborate with, and have a sense of service.
