We are now looking for new employees who want to continue their medical education by doing their AT in Norrbotten. We offer you a job with great personal responsibility where you can use and develop your skills in practice.
We are looking for
We are looking for someone who has a diploma or a decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare to do AT in Sweden (this must be presented no later than the first day of employment). We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. It is important that you are both independent and have good collaboration skills, as a prerequisite for employment is that you are able to be supervised. You should also have good empathetic ability, great integrity, and be flexible. You should have the ability to make decisions and prioritize under time pressure. It is important that you have good communication skills.
What you will work with
The tasks are based on the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations on general service for doctors.
Mountains or coast? With us, you choose AT with a base placement at one of our five hospitals, either in the mountains (Gällivare and Kiruna) or by the coast (Kalix, Piteå, or Sunderbyn). If you do AT in Gällivare or Sunderbyn, all placements can be completed at those hospitals. AT at other hospitals means that all or parts of certain service periods are located at another hospital. Kiruna: Surgical specialties and psychiatry are done in Gällivare, a total of 6 months. Kalix: Surgical specialties and larger parts of psychiatry are done in Sunderbyn, a total of 5 months. Piteå: Surgery and parts of orthopedic placement as well as 1 month of psychiatry are done in Sunderbyn.
The training period in primary care is carried out at one of the county's 24 health centers operated by Region Norrbotten. As far as possible, you can choose a health center that belongs to the hospital where you are doing your AT. The county is large - if you decide on one of the health centers that are far from the nearest hospital * (so-called rural health centers), you will learn to handle the most varied needs in situations that you will never encounter in a hospital or a health center in an urban area. * = Arjeplog, Arvidsjaur, Jokkmokk, Pajala, Överkalix, and Övertorneå have observation places and provide care around the clock.

Information about the position
The position involves an 18-month long general service. Start date is August 24 or November 23, 2026, depending on early or late start. Piteå's late start begins on October 26. If you have a late start, you are still employed in week 35 for introduction and week 39 for a course in emergency medicine. If your training plan requires you to travel to another hospital, you will be compensated for daily commuting if the assignment allows it. If double accommodation becomes necessary, Region Norrbotten will pay the rent at the temporary location.
Interview days:
Gällivare Hospital: March 11 and 12
Kalix Hospital: March 18 and 19
Kiruna Hospital: March 16 and 17
Piteå Hospital: February 18, March 4 and 6
Sunderby Hospital: February 25 and March 11
The position is within psychiatry: Based on the nature of the operation and safety requirements, applicants to our operations must be prepared to provide a criminal record extract
The position is within pediatric care: We apply a background check before making a hiring decision according to the provisions of the law (2013:852) on background checks of persons working with children
Training positions have fixed salary levels.
