Department of Clinical Sciences
Are you a veterinary radiologist interested in a developing temporary position in diagnostic imaging? Welcome to apply for this fixed-term position at the diagnostic imaging unit at SLU University Animal Hospital, which is part of the Department of Clinical Sciences.
About the Job
You will work with diagnostic imaging examinations on small animals - primarily ultrasound and X-ray. Depending on previous experience, there may also be opportunities to work with CT and MRI.
You will work towards set goals according to the UDS mission. For all employees at the diagnostic imaging unit, supervision and teaching of future veterinary nurses and veterinary students is included in the daily work.
The working hours are currently scheduled for weekdays during the day.
Your Background
You have a veterinary degree valid in Sweden and have completed further education in diagnostic imaging. It is an advantage if you have completed an ECVDI residency program or a national specialization program in diagnostic imaging.
You must have experience working as a veterinarian in small animal healthcare and have more advanced experience working with diagnostic imaging in an animal hospital or a larger veterinary clinic, where you have worked with performing and interpreting ultrasound on small animals, interpreting and reporting X-ray images on small animals, and possibly also worked with CT and/or MRI examinations on small animals.
You must be proficient in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.
You should be accustomed to handling computers and information systems in a veterinary hospital environment.
Experience teaching veterinary diagnostic imaging is an advantage.
You should value good relationships with colleagues, have good teamwork skills, and function well in a team. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as collaboration skills, curiosity, motivation, interest in communication and service. As a person, you are structured, proactive, and able to handle sometimes demanding and logistically challenging situations.
About Us
The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span all animal species.
At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care to companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.
Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, purpose-built facilities, we have access to advanced diagnostic imaging and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS also includes an ambulatory clinic that travels to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
The diagnostic imaging unit is one of the leading units in veterinary diagnostic imaging in Europe, and we are an approved training site for the European specialist examination in the subject, both for small and large animals. The unit is well-equipped with modern X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, 64-slice CT for small and large animals, 1.5 T MRI for small animals, 0.27 T MRI system for standing horses, and scintigraphy for small and large animals, including our own Hotlab.
We have many international contacts, and our nurses are specialized in diagnostic imaging. We have about 14 employees divided between radiologists and radiology nurses.
