We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!

Our Operations

Welcome to a highly specialized operation that gives you the opportunity to develop in your role as a nurse and contribute to qualitative and safe care for our patients. We care for patients with diseases of the blood and bone marrow, including acute and chronic leukemia, and myeloma. Many of our patients are recurring and are cared for by us for an extended period. Here, you will work with medical technology, including central lines, chemotherapy, antibody treatments, and blood components. You will work in an environment with a high nurse density, experienced doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants.

Stem cell transplants and similar cell therapies are one of our specialties, and we are accredited according to the European quality assurance JACIE. The accreditation entails certain requirements, and therefore there are protocols and checklists for all procedures we perform. It also requires us to have a thorough introduction with structured follow-up and ongoing training efforts. This creates security for you as a nurse and contributes to safer care for patients. It also helps us systematically identify inadequate routines and continuously work on improvements.

On the ward, you will be part of a care team together with a nursing assistant and another nurse. We have three care teams, and each has its own doctor. You will also collaborate with other health professionals such as social workers, physiotherapists, and dietitians. We also have pharmacists employed to support and relieve you as a nurse.

Your Mission

In your role as a nurse on Hematology Ward 101A, you will play an important role in the highly specialized care we provide. In your daily work, you will develop your clinical eye and your medical technical skills by coming into contact with central lines, blood components, chemotherapy, and stem cells, etc. You will also have the opportunity to focus on the nursing perspective and work with the patient in focus.

Your Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse. Experience or specialized training in oncology or hematology is an advantage but not a requirement.

Your Competence

You have a positive attitude and are interested in being part of a workgroup where you can discuss both serious and light topics. Our department offers varied and stimulating tasks for you as a nurse. With us, there are development opportunities whether you are new to the profession or have worked for several years. We place great emphasis on structure and develop routines to manage all possible situations. In Hematology, no day is like the other, and therefore it is important that you, as a person, want to learn new things every day. You should also find it easy to interact with other professionals and always have the patient's best interest in mind.

We Offer

  • Permanent full-time position.
  • Rotation service day/evening and night. Rotation to night only after dialogue with the manager.
  • Individualized introduction of about five weeks that follows the department's introduction and training program.
  • Structured follow-up with the assistant department manager and educational nurse during the introduction and throughout the first year.
  • Full-day training in hematology during your first time with us.
  • Weekly lectures on disease knowledge, treatments, and nursing.
  • High nurse density.
  • Cancer Care Academy – opportunity for further education and paid specialist training.
  • Clinical supervision and mentorship from one of our experienced nurses.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
