The Sollentuna Security Remand Facility has 371 places divided between common areas and restricted areas, as well as special youth places. JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer, you work in teams with daily contact with clients in a closed environment with high security and confidentiality. Your tasks are varied and include opening and locking cell doors, distributing food and medication, conducting searches and isolation-breaking measures, as well as meeting clients in crisis. Administrative tasks are also included.

The work is varied and can involve both conversations with clients and emergency interventions during alarms, always with safety in focus. You collaborate closely with colleagues in a strong team and work according to a rotating schedule with day, evening, night, and weekend shifts.

You will start with a three-week introduction at the workplace. After the probationary period, you will be offered the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's basic training for 8 weeks, with salary throughout the training period. During the probationary period, ongoing assessments will be made for the possibility of permanent employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Your personal qualities are important. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. You need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. You should be able to act physically when required. You will be trained in the handling and use of batons and pepper spray and are expected to carry these while on duty.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A complete high school education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant.
  • Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work.
  • Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
  • Relevant language skills.
  • A B driver's license.
  • Good computer skills.
