At the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at Sahlgrenska Academy, extensive research and teaching are conducted across large areas of knowledge - from molecule to human. The activities consist of five sections: pharmacology, physiology, health and rehabilitation, clinical neuroscience, and psychiatry and neurochemistry.

The Department of Neuroscience and Physiology is now seeking a researcher, based at the Section of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.

The research group led by Erik Smedler is in the field of molecular psychiatry. We aim to understand the emergence of severe mental illness using stem cell-based models of neural development.

Job Responsibilities

Research work in molecular psychiatry. To lead an individual research project and to take a senior role in the research group with supervision of students.

Qualifications

A PhD in a relevant field with multiple scientific publications is required. Also, extensive experience in cell and molecular biology work; including gene editing with CRISPR and neural differentiation of stem cells.

Employment

The position is a fixed-term employment for 11 months, 100% full-time, with placement at the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology. Start date: as soon as possible or by agreement.
