Description

The mission of the Environmental and Climate Committee is to drive the city's environmental work and protect human health and the environment.

In practice, this means that the Environmental Administration drives and coordinates the city's work within the ecological dimension of sustainable development, supporting and promoting the implementation of the city's environmental and climate programs and the use of the city's environmental management system. Additionally, we have a supervisory role responsible for oversight, assessment, and control according to, among other things, the Environmental Code, as well as food, alcohol, and tobacco laws. This is also aimed at protecting human health and the environment.

Do you want to help drive our strategic work in the areas of energy and climate?

We are looking for someone who is engaged and analytical with experience and competence in strategic environmental work focused on energy and climate issues.

The role includes varied tasks and is suitable for someone who enjoys analyzing, preparing documentation, and collaborating with different stakeholders. You will act as a specialist in the field and continuously develop new knowledge, both broadly and in depth. This role involves contacts with various stakeholders, both internally within the City of Gothenburg and externally. In this assignment, you will have great opportunities to contribute to the development of energy and climate.

It is important that you enjoy formulating issues but also that you can independently advance questions in projects or assignments where you contribute to solutions.

You will belong to the Environmental Strategy Department, the Climate, Energy, and Non-Toxic Environment Unit. In the unit, you will have about 18 engaged, inclusive, and helpful colleagues. You will be part of a group working on climate transition in various areas. One of these is energy, and you will closely collaborate with your immediate colleagues and other stakeholders in the City of Gothenburg.

Responsibilities

Examples of responsibilities:

• Be responsible for monitoring and analyzing the development of energy-related goals in the environmental and climate program.
• Participate in the development of strategic work within energy, within the environmental and climate program.
• Report and follow up on the Mayor's Agreement.
• Areas of responsibility or participation include energy systems, plastics, and construction.
• Act as an expert in the field and respond to consultations within energy (and climate).
• Collaborate and drive work within the area of energy and climate with relevant administrations and companies as well as external stakeholders.

Qualifications

You have an academic degree with a focus on energy, environmental science, or equivalent education relevant to the tasks.

You also have at least 3 years of work experience in environmental work at a strategic level, with a focus on energy issues. You have good knowledge of energy systems.

You express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.

It is an advantage to have experience working in a politically governed organization and thus to have an understanding of a municipality's conditions and authority. It is also an advantage to have experience in writing documentation and responding to consultations.

You can see your work as part of a larger context and understand how it affects and is affected by other parts of the organization. You collaborate with others on overarching issues to create value. You consider various information sources and perspectives and can adapt others' ideas to your own operations.

You plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively. You ensure that work is completed on time and follow up on the results.

You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and suggest possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions from limited and/or complex information.
