About the Position

As a school librarian, you will be a key person in building the school library service. You will be based at Gäddgårdsskolan, where the primary school F–9 and adapted primary school will be gathered in a brand new school opening in the autumn of 2026. The new school will be a modern environment focused on collaboration, digital development, and reading promotion. In addition, you will also work at Brattbergsskolan and Götlunda school.

The work of building the school library started in the autumn of 2025, when the service was moved from the city library to the schools. Today, there is a school librarian responsible for the northern part of the municipality – your role will be to organize the startup at the schools belonging to the southern catchment area. Together, you will develop a cohesive and inspiring school library service for the primary schools in Arboga Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

In consultation with the principal, teachers, and school librarian, you will plan and prepare the development of the school library service.

Your responsibilities include planning, building, and media purchasing. After an initial setup phase, the position will primarily involve staffing at school units. You will actively work with reading promotion as well as media and information literacy in the schools.

At Arboga's school libraries, you will help provide high-quality library services and make the libraries appealing and accessible to everyone in the schools.

Qualifications

A degree in library science or equivalent competence, with experience working with children and youth, preferably previous experience in school libraries. You should be creative and proactive, with the ability to work independently. We expect you to have good IT skills and be open to using digital tools.

You should have a strong interest in working with people. We emphasize building good relationships with students.
