Job Advertisement: Solution Architect at the Swedish Customs
The Swedish Customs is an authority with significant data resources and ambitions to utilize these more effectively to strengthen our mission of creating a safe and secure society. We are on an exciting journey of change where we modernize how we manage, share, and use data to meet needs both within and outside the Swedish Customs. A large part of the change work is conducted within the cross-agency development area of Data and Analysis, which includes the delivery areas of Data, BI, and AI.
The IT department of the Swedish Customs is now looking for curious and responsible employees to strengthen the delivery area of Data.
The delivery area of Data is in an expansive and exciting phase. You will join a strategically important area under development and become a key player in translating the vision into concrete frameworks and IT solutions. You will shape both your own role and common work processes and directions. The work is agile and cross-functional, involving competencies from IT, operations, data, and law.
The IT department of the Swedish Customs is currently the largest employer in northern Sweden within IT, with approximately 350 employees.
About the Position
We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to the development and management of our future data platform. The role is central to our efforts to create conditions for sustainably and securely meeting all operational needs for information. You will play an important role in our focus on data-driven development and increased levels of automated information exchange.
As a solution architect, you will be involved in the entire process, from planning and requirements specification to design, development, testing, implementation, and operations. You will be responsible for the technical architecture work for the data platform, which is carried out together with other team members and will also be part of various networks, including with other architects in the IT department.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- developing and managing the solution architecture for the Swedish Customs' data platform
- translating conceptual models into data models and flows, as well as realizing rules for data governance
- ensuring that the data platform adheres to the Swedish Customs' architectural principles, information security requirements, and applicable legal requirements
- acting as a technical link to operational units, suppliers, developers, and other operations together with the delivery area manager
- participating in the development of common architectural principles, visions, and roadmaps for the Swedish Customs.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:
- relevant post-secondary education with an IT focus, or equivalent experience that we can assess as comparable
- several years of experience in architectural work focusing on data/information, e.g., in various types of data platforms, integration solutions, or management of master data and metadata
- a good understanding of how to realize conceptual models in IT systems, data models, flows, and governance mechanisms
- experience working with data and schemas in various formats, e.g., SQL and JSON, etc.
- the ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
- Swedish citizenship.
It Is Meritorious If You Have Experience In:
- working with open data
- API-based information exchange
- information and data modeling as well as system design with Sparx Enterprise Architect (UML)
- working in complex environments
- architectural work or system development within public operations
- agile working methods.
as well as good knowledge of various solutions and principles for structuring data, both storage and exchange (relational databases, NoSQL, linked data, schema on read/write, etc.).

The employment is a permanent position that may start with a 6-month probationary period.
Individual salary setting applies.
