IT Technician at the Swedish Armed Forces

About the Position

As an IT Technician in the Swedish Armed Forces and FMTIS, you are an important part of a successful team in an agency that is in strong growth. About the Unit

FMTIS is a nationwide organization within the Swedish Armed Forces responsible for the operation, maintenance, installations, and modifications of the Armed Forces' facilities, IT systems, and equipment. The organization is staffed with both military and civilian personnel. The position will be located at the Implementation Unit North, and the workplace is Boden.

Main Responsibilities

The work consists of independently carrying out installation, configuration, proactive troubleshooting maintenance, incident management in the IT environment on the Armed Forces' network components, computers, servers, telephony, and user support in both open and classified IT environments. The work is varied and mainly performed in the Armed Forces' premises in Boden and to some extent in other locations in Norrbotten, but other parts of the country may also be involved.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Education with a focus on IT/data at least at the high school level or equivalent knowledge that the employer can assess as equivalent
  • Good computer skills, both hardware and software for servers and clients in a Windows environment
  • Ability to express oneself in Swedish and English in speech and writing
  • Good physical condition
  • Good experience working in a Microsoft environment and TCP/IP networks
  • Driving license B

You have a practical and outgoing disposition, are responsible, and have good collaboration skills. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

MERITORIOUS

  • Current and relevant professional experience in IT systems, IT equipment, and IT communication
  • Experience with ITIL process work
  • Experience in IT security work, e.g., information security
  • Experience working on IT projects
  • Experience in IP Telephony
  • Experience in server operations
  • IT certifications from e.g., Microsoft or Cisco
  • Knowledge of cabling/termination and documentation of telecommunication systems

Employment form: permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the agency.

The position is civilian.
Within the Armed Forces, the position is referred to as Operations Engineer.
No military experience is required for the position, but you will participate in military/civilian training and various Armed Forces exercises.
Start date according to agreement.
