Our Ambulatory Unit is looking for an addition to a fantastic team for a temporary position. Are you our next veterinarian?

The Ambulatory Unit treats and performs preventive health work for farm animals and horses. The area covers the municipalities of Uppsala and Knivsta. During on-call hours, we are responsible for border control at Arlanda Airport. We are about ten veterinarians working at the unit. About the job

The tasks include all duties performed by a veterinarian at the unit. You will work towards set goals according to the UDS mission. During weekdays, we perform scheduled visits and emergency veterinary care; during on-call hours, we handle urgent cases involving horses and farm animals. The position also includes supervision of veterinary students. The work schedule is around the clock, including evenings, weekends, and nights according to a schedule.

Work at our other UDS departments may also be relevant.

Your background

We are looking for a licensed veterinarian with the authority to work in Sweden, or a temporary veterinarian, who has practical experience working with large animals. A B driver's license is required. You express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Experience in clinical supervision of veterinary students is an advantage.

As a veterinarian at the university animal hospital, you have a scientific approach and interest in evidence-based care. Your communication and collaboration skills are very good, and you are keen to maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues. You are also interested in creating good conditions for teaching and research. You understand that a dynamic operation with irregular working hours is something you can manage. As a person, you are structured, have good self-awareness, an understanding of what stresses you, and a desire to contribute to the operation and the team.

About us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span all animal species.

At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.

Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern, purpose-built facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory.

The Ambulatory Unit belongs to the equine department and takes care of veterinary care for farm animals and horses in the Uppsala veterinary district. We are also responsible for border control at Arlanda Airport regarding the import of companion animals, which is a task from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
