Your tasks

In your role, you will drive and assist in the various phases of new art projects in our public environments. You will work independently, plan, and carry out both purchases of finished works and artistic design assignments. An important part of the work is coordinating and mediating art projects and ongoing artistic processes for various stakeholders and partners. The work involves close collaboration with many different professions such as artists, construction project managers, and administrators, as well as with your immediate colleagues at the Västerås Art Museum. The entire city is your workplace, but you have your fixed point at the Art Museum where you work closely with your colleagues in the public art team. Work in the evenings and weekends may occur.

Your qualifications

To fit into the role, you should have an academic education with an artistic or art history focus, or education that the employer deems equivalent. You have good knowledge of contemporary art and artistic design in public spaces as well as a broad network within the field. You should have documented experience of independently leading projects. You also have experience in text work such as contracts, press releases, signs, and other information. Preferably, you have experience working in public administration. You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Additional information

In connection with the interview, you will need to verify your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. The position is a full-time temporary position from March 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026.
