We at Piteåtidningen are looking for summer interns!

Piteåtidningen is the largest news medium in the Pite älvdal region. We work every day to create leading news coverage of Piteå, Älvsbyn, Arvidsjaur, and Arjeplog.

During a summer internship with us, you will work in a creative environment, help scrutinize important societal issues, and capture local buzz. You will become part of the team and have a group of engaged and helpful colleagues. We are looking for someone with a strong commitment and interest in local journalism and a passion for telling stories that affect people's everyday lives. You are curious, flexible, able to dive into new topics, and actively work to ensure your publications capture readers' interest.

This summer, we are looking for reporters focused on news and sports. As a reporter, your tasks will include generating ideas, writing articles, taking photos, live reporting, filming, and editing video content for our website and social media. We work with a digital focus and clear goals where readers are always at the center, so we appreciate if you are skilled at packaging your own material.

We offer you an independent work environment and value your own idea generation and extensive network highly. We are also looking for reporters with sports expertise who are ready to cover, for example, football, running, and personal life stories related to the world of sports.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has or is studying a journalism degree or equivalent, or has equivalent work experience.
• Has a passion for journalism and a desire to convey news that helps the audience in their daily lives.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment where tasks may need to be prioritized based on the news situation.
• Is curious, enjoys meeting new people, and is willing to learn new things.
• Has a good sense of language, can understand angles, and convey straightforward news in writing.
• Has basic knowledge of photography and filming (with mobile and/or DSLR camera).
• Has knowledge of journalism such as interview techniques, research, information gathering, source criticism, and news packaging.

The internships may involve working hours during the day, evenings, and weekends.

A valid driver's license (B) is required as driving is part of the job.
