JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you have good knowledge of crop cultivation and plant protection in agricultural crops? Do you want to contribute to a competitive, robust, and growing food production? Do you have the ability to see the big picture while managing details and dependencies? Then you could be our new colleague and have the opportunity to actively influence how we achieve our goals.
The role includes developing competencies and supporting existing advisory services in Sweden within crop cultivation and integrated plant protection. We work with independent advice based on scientific principles and convey knowledge in various ways, such as newsletters, conferences, field walks, demonstration crops, and informational materials.
Examples of job responsibilities:
- Monitor the development of plant pests during the growing season within Jordbruksverket's forecasting activities and participate in digital weekly meetings for advisors regarding the current plant protection situation.
- Compile, analyze, and convey Swedish and international experiences and results in the field of plant protection.
- Contribute to increased awareness of difficult-to-control weeds and spread knowledge about sustainable cultivation systems.
The work involves many contacts, both internally within Jordbruksverket and externally with advisory organizations, universities, and other authorities.
As a plant protection advisor, you will be part of the Knowledge Hub for environment and climate and actively work towards increased, robust, and sustainable food production. Within the knowledge hub, we work on competency development in areas such as biodiversity, ecological production, reduced climate impact, plant nutrition, and plant protection. We collaborate on common tasks, which means you may also have the opportunity to work on other issues, such as investigations or contract and procurement matters.
You should therefore enjoy a flexible working style, be able to adapt to changing priorities, and perform in a changing environment.
Colleagues in the Knowledge Hub for environment and climate are primarily regionally placed in Jordbruksverket's three advisory units. This position is located at the plant protection advisory unit in Landskrona.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with good knowledge of crop cultivation in agricultural crops under Swedish conditions. You have a university degree in crop cultivation, such as an agronomist with a focus on soil/plants, horticultural engineer, or equivalent. You have good knowledge of plant protection. Experience with field trials, grading, and analysis of plant pests and diseases in the field, as well as previous experience working in a government agency, is an advantage.
We place great importance on your personal qualities. We see that you are structured and a team player who enjoys collaborating with others. You keep yourself updated in your field and find it easy to come up with solutions when challenges arise.
The position requires good communication skills and the ability to express yourself well in both Swedish and English, in speech and writing.
