What you'll do

As a Program Packaging Coordinator within Plant Supply Chain Engineering, you will in cooperation with the responsible program Manager, have an important role in developing the packaging engineering team to secure an accelerating implementation and transformational pace for Car program and running. Together with the plant PE team be the responsible contact towards Central packaging for all plant stakeholder needs and demands. You will work with packaging strategies and initiatives, plan and prioritize all activities performed by the packaging Engineering group, such as improving and optimization of packaging for future best in class flows. Furthermore, you will follow up and deliver in line with KPIs. Packaging Engineering coordinator is responsible to coordinate the PE team to analyze, develop, plan, and improve running/program packaging solutions as well as to secure the maintenance internal flows. All parts delivered to a plant must be transported and handled in packaging that are quality assured, ergonomically suited and cost efficient. Packaging is essential throughout the Supply Chain and plays an important role in the general logistic setup.

Main Responsibility

Responsibility of a Packaging Engineer Coordinator is to secure that the main responsibilities described are fulfilled in line with Program Packaging Collaboration Process, VCMS cycle plan and Key principles and to escalate to the right stakeholders when necessary.

  • Coordinate, drive and implement packaging improvements to support the specific plant according to Packaging collaboration process, VCMS and Line Back Principles.
  • Support part number changes/supplier changes after FSR.
  • Coordinate program team during new car programs and running improvements.
  • Take an active part to secure that the packaging is according to standard and flow requirements.
  • Reporting in Vira all packaging not fulfilling VCC strategy, quality or ergonomic demands.
  • Secure Container Filling degree optimization for running packaging (One-Way, Volvo standard packaging, type bound packaging).
  • Investigate, drive, implement and follow up packaging issues and packaging improvements from plant, part supplier or other stakeholders.
  • Leading the dialogue with the part supplier and Volvo Car purchasing and provide status updates to the plant.
  • Secure the maintenance of racks and packaging used for internal and external logistic flows by making sufficient agreements, planning, and handover.

What you'll bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Logistics engineering or equal qualifications.
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Analytic and engineering mind.
  • Creative approach of problem solving.
  • Team player.
  • Good communication skills towards internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible and creative.
  • Car product knowledge.
  • Forklift licence is a plus.
  • Material handling experience is a plus.
  • Able to identify opportunities and drive to make improvements, passion for efficient logistics.
  • Ability to manage multiple items at the same time without losing focus or quality.
  • Positive can-do attitude, able to handle a multitude of uncertainties.
  • A strong holistic view and high degree of courage, integrity, and business ethics.

We are looking for a communicative coordinator with great cooperation skills. You have experience within Supply Chain with a good level of understanding packaging impact on logistic flows, lean and overall supply chain processes. We assume that you have a university degree within Supply Chain or similar.

To be successful in this role, you are able to build trust within the team. We believe you have ability to take own initiatives, contribute with innovative ideas and solutions. As person, you are analytic and structured, as well as have experience and competence within the digital area. On a more personal note, you are a team player with great coordination and communication skills and not afraid to take initiatives to reach the set goals.
