At Boliden, backfilling plays a crucial role in safe and sustainable mining. When the ore is mined, voids are created in the rock – and this is where you come in! We fill these spaces with paste, a material similar to a slightly looser concrete, to provide stability to the rock mass and enable continued mining. Paste is pumped through a modern piping system from the above-ground factory, making the process both efficient and technically exciting. It is an important part of our work to create a safe working environment and contribute to sustainable mining.

We are expanding the Backfill team and are now looking for two backfill workers who want to join us on our journey.

Your role

As a backfill worker, you will be responsible for preparing for the backfilling of mined-out rock chambers and monitoring ongoing fillings. You will work closely with production underground and have daily contact with the staff in the paste factory above ground.

The positions are permanent employment with shift work, 7-7 day and night. This means you will work one week Mon-Sun daytime from 06:00 to 15:18 followed by a week off, then a night week Mon-Sun from 18:00 to 03:00, followed by another week off.

Your team

You will be part of our team within the Mining Service section, where we work closely with the core of the mine's future. Here you will join the Backfill group - a close-knit team consisting of four shift crews of backfill workers and a technician, led by an engaged supervisor. Together, we ensure that the backfilling operates smoothly and safely, allowing the mine to continue to develop. With us, safety, collaboration, technology, and responsibility are in focus - and you are an important part of the whole!

Your tasks

• Installation and routing of backfill pipes and hoses
• Patrolling and monitoring the rooms being filled.
• Maintenance work on the piping system
• Close collaboration with the paste factory, mine planning, and underground production

Your contribution

• High school education in a relevant field
• Driver's license B
• Swedish spoken and written
• Good computer and system skills

Meritorious:

• High school education in construction and civil engineering, industry, or mining work
• Experience in mining or industry
• Certification for mobile working platforms and Hot Work certificate
