Job Advertisement: Customs Officer with Focus on Internal Control
Do you want a varied and meaningful job where you can contribute to creating a safe and secure society? Then the job within the Swedish Customs Control Department is for you.
The Control Department has a broad mandate to ensure that only approved goods pass the border. The mission is to ensure that the correct customs duties and taxes are collected and to conduct customs controls on imports and exports where the Customs Authority looks for goods that violate restrictions. The Control Department is tasked with stopping or seriously disrupting organized crime and ensuring competitive neutrality.
The operational work of the Control Department is carried out in groups. The groups work with the entire mission of the Customs Authority but are specialized according to the needs of the operations.
About the Position
As a customs officer with a focus on internal control, you will primarily work administratively with clearance work. You will work in the Control Department's clearance expedition in Storlien, where you ensure that companies and individuals comply with customs regulations, among other things by reviewing customs declarations. Checking customs declarations means ensuring that the correct fees are paid and that import and export restrictions are followed. Sweden and Norway have a border customs cooperation, which means that you will also handle clearance matters for the Norwegian Customs Agency.
The work is varied and includes everything from expedition work, administrative tasks, contact with freight forwarders, companies, individuals, and authorities. The work may involve inspections and goods investigations in the commercial goods flow, which also means that you need to be physically fit.
As a customs officer, you will work in uniform, make various forms of authority decisions, and meet the public and customers daily. We place great importance on your ability to treat people with respect and understanding, that you have good judgment, and that you are a good representative of the Customs Authority, both internally and externally.
The work involves shift work, which means you need to be comfortable with irregular working hours.
Currently, the Customs Authority is undergoing an exciting but extensive change process to introduce new customs legislation along with new systems. This means that you must be curious and interested in learning new things and have the ability to understand digital systems.
For the Customs Authority, the state value base is important.
