Do you want to be part of Karlstad City Library and make a difference for the younger residents of Karlstad? We are now looking for a librarian for our unit for Children and Youth.

In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to inspire and support our younger visitors in their reading development and exploration of the world of literature. You will have the chance to design creative activities and events to promote reading and learning.

As a librarian, you are a structured and service-oriented person who is passionate about providing excellent service to our visitors. We see that you are flexible and stable, which allows you to adapt to the varying needs and interests of our young borrowers. Responsibilities

As a librarian at Karlstad City Library, Children and Youth unit, you will play a central role in inspiring and guiding our young visitors.

Your tasks will vary, and you will be responsible for the School Library Central (SBC). SBC provides loans to primary schools in Karlstad municipality, where you assist with literature support to educators, administration, and finance for SBC.

You will also work at the information desk at the City Library, Children and Youth department, and you will perform media purchases. An important part of the job is to lead, organize, and plan the reading promotion work of the Children's Novel Prize in Karlstad, where classes for grade 6 participate.

Working hours according to the Library's opening hours, including evenings and weekends as per schedule.

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to the development of young people through reading and learning!

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in library and information science (bachelor's or master's) or other education that we consider equivalent. You have a strong interest in literature and good literary knowledge that enables you to inspire others to read. You can also express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.

We place great emphasis on having a developed sense of service, good interpersonal skills, and enjoying a lively environment. It is important that you have a structured working method and can be persistent in your work, with the ability to handle various challenges that may arise.

Experience in library work is an advantage. We also consider it advantageous if you have knowledge of children's and youth literature and if you are well-versed in relevant governing documents such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
