Do you want to work with regulatory authority that contributes to responsible alcohol service? We are now looking for an Alcohol Officer for Vänersborg Municipality.

The position is currently organized within the social services, but a review regarding where the position is best organized in the municipality is ongoing. This may result in the position being moved to another suitable department.

Responsibilities

As an Alcohol Officer, you will investigate applications for serving permits, handle incoming regulatory questions, conduct inspections at businesses/serving establishments in Vänersborg, and provide advice and support. The work is independent and comes with its own responsibilities.

The permit assessment includes evaluating whether the applicant meets the personal and financial suitability requirements set by legislation. After a permit has been granted, you will conduct internal and external inspections. The internal inspection includes control and review of financial conditions, while the external inspection takes place at serving establishments. As an officer, you will also provide information to permit holders and applicants, as well as prepare documentation and present cases to the board. The position also involves handling notifications and inspections of low-alcohol beer in retail.

You will collaborate with colleagues working in other inspection areas such as tobacco, tobacco-free nicotine products, over-the-counter medications, food, or environmental and health protection and participate in public health promotion and crime prevention efforts. An important part of the work is collaborating with government agencies such as the Police Authority, the Tax Agency, the Enforcement Authority, and the County Administrative Board. You will also work towards good cooperation with businesses and organizations in the municipality.

The work involves evening, night, and weekend shifts in connection with inspections.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant higher education, such as in law, economics, or another education deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Good knowledge of the Alcohol Act or experience in regulatory authority.
• Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Good administrative skills.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience working as an Alcohol Officer.
• Experience in inspection work or investigative work within the public sector.

A prerequisite for the job is that you can work independently and that you are meticulous and responsible. Since the work involves a lot of contact with the public and entrepreneurs, you need to have a good demeanor. You are confident and clear in your regulatory role and have a sense of legal security and administrative law knowledge.

It is important that you have good collaboration skills and that you are attentive, service-oriented, and structured. You remain calm and stable regardless of circumstances and always act professionally based on your role. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability for the position.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.
