JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Head of the Street and Park Department, you will lead the department's operations and be responsible for personnel, finances, and projects. You will have direct leadership over a team of employees with roles such as gardener, construction worker, engineer, and coordinator. In your role, you will ensure high quality in the operation and maintenance of the municipality's streets, parks, and other public environments, while planning and following up on operations based on the department's operational plan and the municipality's overall goals and budget.

You will participate in strategic development work and contribute expertise in infrastructure, street and park management, and collaborate with other departments, contractors, and citizens to create attractive and sustainable solutions. Your responsibilities will include managing and developing the municipality's road network and ensuring road maintenance, creating safety in public environments such as parks, squares, and pedestrian and bicycle paths.

As the Head of the Department, you will also be part of the management team and work closely with the municipal director and the political leadership of the production committee.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in a relevant field for the role, or other experience deemed equivalent and suitable by the employer.
• Documented experience of personnel responsibility, preferably in a leadership position.
• Experience working with finances, budgets, and follow-up.
• Knowledge of occupational safety issues and experience ensuring a safe working environment.
• Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• A valid driver's license (B) as the position involves travel within the municipality.
• Experience leading operations with both technical and practical employees.
• The ability to plan, organize, and follow up on operations based on operational plans and goals.

We place great importance on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who is confident in their leadership, structured, and administratively skilled in their work approach, and who has a strong commitment to developing operations in collaboration with others.

Desirable Qualifications

It is advantageous if you have several years of experience as a manager in complex organizations and documented experience in any of the department's areas of responsibility, such as operation and maintenance of streets, parks, or public environments. Experience leading change work, developing processes, and streamlining operations is also valuable, as well as experience working in a politically governed organization.

Additional merits include knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues, understanding the early stages of the community building process, and experience speaking in front of larger groups.

Experience working with development work, innovation, or urban nature conservation can also give you an advantage.
