Theater Västernorrland is the county's own theater and is tasked with producing a varied repertoire of high artistic quality for children, youth, and adults. The theater has a permanent acting ensemble and conducts extensive school activities, supports amateur theater associations, and offers leisure activities. The theater's home stage is in Sundsvall, and tours take place throughout Västernorrland. We are now looking for someone who wants to lead and develop Theater Västernorrland's artistic expression into the future.

About the position

As the artistic director, you have overall artistic responsibility for Theater Västernorrland. You lead the operations and drive the development of the theater's vision and repertoire. You are part of the management team within Scenkonst Västernorrland and contribute to the company's artistic and strategic whole. Co-production and other collaborations, both within the company and with friends around the world, are seen as part of a sustainable future!

Who are you?

You are a director, artistic leader, or have another relevant background in the performing arts with a strong artistic vision and broad experience of Swedish theater life. You have extensive knowledge of the creation of theater productions and the professional roles and competencies that collaborate before and during the audience's encounter. You see the value in working in dialogue with the theater's various staff units and with our surrounding community. You are curious about the regional area we operate in and have good knowledge of the national and international theater industry. You thrive equally well as an ambassador outside the theater house as an artistic sounding board in the rehearsal room. You have experience in leadership within the performing arts and work with trust, inspiration, inclusivity, and attentiveness, with a presence that is felt in everyday life.

A unique assignment in the heart of Sweden in an environment where theater art, audience meetings, and regional anchoring are at the center. The position is a four-year appointment with the possibility of extension. Location: Sundsvall. Employment rate: 100%. Start date according to agreement.
