Company Description
AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy, and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has Nordic roots with a global reach. Our shared principles – Result driven, Client centric, Empowering, and Accountable – guide us in how we work, develop, and succeed together. Join us in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.
Job Description
Together, we face significant societal challenges where energy issues play a central role. The AFRY Future Energy Programme is for you as a recent engineering graduate who wants to contribute to the energy transition. The programme introduces you to the energy sector, provides a secure start in the consulting role, and allows you to work on real client projects alongside an educational programme in the energy field. You will also build a valuable network within AFRY and develop your expertise.
Through the AFRY Future Energy Programme, we aim to support your interest in working within the energy sector and give you a strong start in your career. If you want to help find solutions to the challenges in the energy sector, this is your chance to kickstart your career in the best way!
With over 800 hydropower engineers, AFRY is one of the world's largest consulting firms in hydropower, and we want to drive innovation and new technology in the field while the demand for energy increases and the energy landscape changes. As a result of the increased energy demand, many existing power plants need modernization and upgrades to enhance energy efficiency, operational reliability, and flexibility. This gives us the opportunity to leverage our extensive experience and expertise in the industry in new ways.
We are now looking for several junior consultants who want to be part of AFRY Hydro and contribute to sustainable and fossil-free energy production. At AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work and develop with experts from all technical areas within hydropower, such as geology, geotechnics, rock, construction engineering, sustainable hydropower/environment, hydraulics, turbine and generator technology, as well as mechanics, electrical engineering, automation, and battery energy storage. We also have specialists in environmental adaptation and project managers to drive all these different types of projects, and we are therefore also looking for juniors who want to develop in this area.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who wants to work within one of our technical areas of expertise or towards project management and who has an interest in energy and hydropower. You are a graduate engineer or a vocational engineer with a focus on, for example, electrical/automation, electrical power, mechanics, construction/road and water, energy & environment, or you have an education in biology/ecology. You are at the beginning of your career and are attracted to both the energy sector and the consulting role.
We place great importance on your personal qualities and your potential to develop with us. We also know that personal competencies come in various forms and appearances – that is what creates innovation and makes life at AFRY so interesting! The most important thing for us is that you are someone who is motivated to build good relationships and collaborate, as there are many points of contact. Supporting, communicating, and sharing are a big part of the culture at AFRY.
You need to be structured and enjoy focusing on multiple areas at the same time. Being able to work according to a clear process and plan your work well ensures that we can ultimately deliver good results.
You express yourself fluently in both Swedish and English, in both speech and writing.
Depending on which part of hydropower you work with, there may be requirements to pass a background check for work on security-classified projects and a driver's license requirement for work with commissioning and construction management/project management.
Additional Information
Apply by February 22, 2026 and attach a transcript showing that you are enrolled in relevant education. For any permanent employment after the programme, you must be able to present a degree certificate from relevant education.
Important: If you are interested in several locations; apply to the one you are most interested in and then indicate in your application if you are interested in additional locations.
Start: September 2026
Employment: Fixed-term employment during the programme (9 months) with the possibility of permanent employment afterwards.
Recruitment Process: Interviews will take place after the advertising period has ended. In our recruitment process, you will undergo tests to assess competencies and abilities.
