Occupational Therapist for the Rehabilitation Unit in Skövde Municipality
The Rehabilitation Unit is responsible for the rehabilitation of patients enrolled in municipal health and medical care at home, in nursing homes, short-term units, and day activities within elderly care, disability, and social psychiatry. The operation is part of the care and support sector in Skövde Municipality.
The care and support sector has an important societal mission. We work with support, service, care, and assistance for people of all ages, and our operations are characterized by professionalism and human values.
Here we work together as a team. We help and support each other. You are surrounded by high competence, experienced colleagues, and managers. In the role of occupational therapist, you also receive so much back from those you are there for.
To provide the best conditions for our patients and for our employees to succeed and develop at work, development work and continuous improvements are our focus. We aim to be at the forefront of what we do.
As an employee with us, you are important; we want you to stay. We offer mentorship and a tailored introduction for all new hires, as well as ongoing training and professional development.
In 2025, a major initiative has been made to educate care and support staff in patient handling with hoists. The municipality is now continuing this effort, and the Rehabilitation Unit will also train care and support staff in manual handling.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The work as an occupational therapist within municipal health and medical care is independent and involves assessing, planning, organizing, and executing rehabilitation interventions, assistive device evaluations, and treatments for the patients you are responsible for.
The work is varied and requires you to be flexible and able to quickly reprioritize as circumstances change. You work to ensure that the patient's daily life functions, for example, by addressing the transfer situation upon discharge from the hospital, training ADL, optimizing sitting, and compensating for cognitive impairments.
You, together with the physiotherapist, are responsible for the patient's rehabilitation process and participate in interdisciplinary teams alongside physiotherapists, nurses, nursing assistants, care assessors, and unit managers. You also maintain close contact with relatives and are an important link in the care chain. As an occupational therapist with us, you are responsible for guiding and delegating tasks to care and support staff and providing support to other team members around the patient. Contributing to the improvement work of the organization is a natural part of the job.
Solution-focused and unpretentious collaboration is a significant part of your role and a success factor in the assignment. You need to be able to work with both acute issues and long-term goals.
Parts of the position may involve training staff together with colleagues.
We work daytime on weekdays.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed occupational therapist who appreciates the breadth and variety within municipal health and medical care. Experience in municipal rehabilitation or similar is an advantage.
You are a positive and curious person with good communication skills who finds it easy to build relationships with colleagues, patients, and relatives. You are confident and work independently but also take responsibility in teamwork by collaborating with other professionals. You are flexible and able to prioritize when necessary. You master the Swedish language both in speech and writing. A valid B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is required.
We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
