The Role of the Nurse

You are welcome to apply for an exciting and developing position as a summer substitute with us in the summer of 2026.

It is important to us that you feel secure, motivated, and prepared for your summer job with us. Therefore, you will receive thorough onboarding based on your needs and experiences.

As a recent graduate, there is a lot to learn with the support of experienced nurses. During the summer, all four units work together to support each other in our efforts to do our best for our patients. The schedule is planned so that experienced staff work alongside substitutes for safety and competence.

As a qualified nurse, after onboarding, you will have your own care team with a tailored number of patients. Your focus will be on specific nursing care together with a team consisting of doctors and pharmacists as well as experienced nursing assistants and rehabilitation staff. You will have tasks such as documentation, management of epidurals, central venous catheters, peripheral venous catheters, nephrostomy, drainage, and medication management as well as coordination during discharge. You will care for acutely ill patients, patients who are to be or have been operated on, or are to undergo various examinations, as well as patients who need palliative care.

We know it is not easy to be new on the job. Therefore, you are never the only nurse on the ward; there is always support and someone to ask.

Welcome to the surgical care unit. Here we care for surgical and urological acute care patients across many specialties as well as patients admitted in connection with surgery. We also care for palliative patients belonging to SSIH (Specialized Healthcare at Home).

Our facilities are open and bright with good ventilation. At lunch, you can choose to sit in our newly renovated staff room, outside on the balcony, or in our shared lunchroom outside the department. In connection with breaks or adjacent to your work shift, we have our recovery room where you can sit in a massage chair and reflect or listen to music.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is:

• A qualified nurse

To ensure good summer planning, we view positively if you can work as many weeks as possible between weeks 25-32 during the summer. If you have the opportunity for sporadic onboarding during the spring and week 24, that is a plus. If you need a few days of continuous leave or a long weekend, we will accommodate requests regarding that before the schedule is set. The work is scheduled for days, evenings, weekdays, and weekends, not nights.
