Your Role:

As a consultant or specialist physician in neurology, you will work both in outpatient and inpatient settings. On-call duties are included, primarily in the form of weekend rounds during the day in the care ward/stroke unit. You will also play an important role in supervising resident and specialist physicians as well as medical students from Sahlgrenska during the neurology course.

About Us

At the Medical Clinic in Varberg, specialists work in allergology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, geriatrics, and general internal medicine. We have over 8,000 inpatient care occasions each year. The Medical Clinic in Varberg has nearly 400 employees working in outpatient and inpatient care.

At Hallands Hospital Varberg, the neurology department is responsible for 21 care places in the stroke unit 4C. The department is a certified stroke unit and is divided into three physician and nursing groups. One group with a primary focus on stroke is staffed by geriatricians, while the other two have mixed stroke and neurology patients and are rounded by neurologists. There is good access to paramedical staff and also a neuropsychologist when needed.

In outpatient care, investigations and examinations regarding all types of neurology are conducted. Among other things, ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin treatment, lumbar puncture, and muscle and abdominal fat biopsies are performed in the clinic. The same premises also house the neurophysiology clinic where EEG and nerve conduction studies are conducted, which are then interpreted in Lund or Gothenburg. Continuous EEG monitoring is available in the intensive care unit. Close collaboration with paramedical staff is also evident in our newly started ALS team. In addition to the physicians, two nurses, one nursing assistant, and three secretaries work at the neurology clinic, whose premises are adjacent to the stroke unit.

Qualifications

You who are applying are a licensed physician with specialist competence in neurology. If you are also a specialist in general internal medicine or geriatrics, this is considered an additional merit.
