The Role of Nurse

As a nurse, you have a holistic view of the patient's complex needs. You are responsible for care, observation, medication, and collaboration regarding patients with varying care needs. We want the patient to be involved in their care, which means that information is a very important part of your work. You take care of the patient in the best way based on the individual's needs and proven experience in medical care.

We work in teams with different professions, and together with other staff, you work for good collaboration within the clinic.

It is not always easy to be new on the job, and therefore we do our utmost to ensure that you feel secure, excited, and prepared for your summer job with us.

For those who continue their employment after the summer, we offer you the chance to participate in one of Sweden's best introductory and development programs for newly educated nurses - RIU. The program includes 20 full days spread over eight months with lectures, internships, and reflections. RIU gives you an opportunity to meet other nurses in the same situation where you exchange experiences and provide each other with advice and support.

Your Future Workplace

The Medicine and Geriatrics Clinic at Högland Hospital in Eksjö is a developing operation where we care for patients in need of specialized medical and geriatric care. Within the clinic, there are five care units with different focuses and orientations. Our clinic has four inpatient care units and one outpatient unit.

• Care Unit C: Pulmonary Medicine, Gastroenterology: Here, patients with lung diseases such as COPD and lung cancer, as well as patients with gastrointestinal diseases, are cared for.
• Care Unit D: Cardiology: Here, patients with heart diseases such as heart attacks, valve diseases, arrhythmias, and heart failure are cared for. The unit has four heart intensive care places (HIA) and direct admission from the ambulance.
• Care Unit E: Nephrology, Endocrinology, Hematology: Here, patients with kidney diseases, blood diseases, diabetes, metabolic disorders, abnormal blood pressure, and internal medical diseases are cared for.
• Care Unit F: Dialysis: The unit consists of a nephrology outpatient clinic Hemodialysis and PD clinic. The hemodialysis unit has 24 treatment places, and integrated into these places are patients who perform their treatment completely/partially themselves.
• Care Unit G: Neurology, Stroke, Geriatrics: Here, individuals with Stroke/TIA, other neurological diseases such as epilepsy, migraine, and acutely geriatric multi-sick elderly people with complex needs are cared for. A stroke coordinator at the unit coordinates direct admissions for individuals suspected of Stroke/TIA together with the ambulance, emergency room, or health centers.

Your Profile

We are looking for a licensed nurse. You are self-driven and easily adapt to changing circumstances. Furthermore, you are stable and maintain calm in stressful situations. You find it easy to work with others and have a positive attitude. You also have a good ability to communicate with others and understand their perspectives. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

To have the best possible summer planning, we view positively if you can work continuously for 6 weeks during the summer. Introduction will take place outside of these weeks.
