Operational Traffic Informant
Job ResponsibilitiesIn the role of operational traffic informant, you will be responsible for disseminating information both internally and externally to ensure that train travelers and customers receive good and reliable information about the status of train traffic. This can involve everything from delayed and canceled trains to platform changes. This is a role where you reach out to many people, so it is important that you have good communication skills and are precise in how you express yourself both verbally and in writing.
You will be situated in the operational monitoring environment at the traffic control center, collaborating with several other functions. An operational traffic informant must be prepared for unexpected, sudden, and serious disruptions. You are a key player in local communication to relay information. You are responsible for ensuring that all decisions are communicated to travelers, train operators, and other stakeholders. The information you handle is disseminated via existing equipment at the stations and lays the foundation for information to various websites, apps, and media. To do this, you need to stay updated on the traffic situation. You do this through computerized monitoring systems where you work with multiple screens and systems simultaneously, and by maintaining good cooperation with colleagues and railway companies.
Train traffic operates around the clock every day of the year. As an operational traffic informant, you currently work according to a schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and nights. One of the most exciting aspects of this job is that no day is the same. This means there can be both calm moments and sudden spikes in activity if an incident or accident occurs.
As an operational traffic informant, you will receive an educational and exciting job with thorough introduction, training, and guidance for an optimal start. The basic training lasts for 5 months and takes place at the traffic control center in Stockholm, with some training potentially occurring at another traffic control center.
If applicable for training at another location, the Swedish Transport Administration will cover per diem, accommodation, and travel expenses.
The base salary is between 30,500 - 31,500 for the position and this applies during the training period as well.
Additional InformationIn this recruitment, web-based tests will be used as part of the selection process.
The current location for the position is Stockholm.
We will tentatively hold physical interviews from the end of week 4 to week 8.
The interviews will consist of three parts: practical tests in a simulator, operational sitting-in, and an interview.
The employment is classified in a security category. For employment, a satisfactory result in the security clearance is required, conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
QualificationsWho are you?
As a person, you are communicative, which means you can clearly and reliably convey information about the traffic situation. In addition, you need to have good collaboration skills since you will be in an operational management environment with several colleagues you work closely with. You also need to have good problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under varying loads. We expect you to be able to take initiative and create momentum in the tasks ahead of you. Since the employment includes training involving self-study and regular knowledge tests, we see that you can and want to take responsibility for your own learning.
To become an operational traffic informant, you must:
- have a high school education or equivalent knowledge from other studies that the Swedish Transport Administration deems equivalent
- be very proficient in using multiple digital programs and IT systems simultaneously
- be able to work shifts (i.e., early mornings, daytime, evenings, nights, and weekends)
- have relevant and current experience working shifts
- have relevant and current experience working in a monitoring function, or have relevant experience from support or customer service (preferably handling multiple cases simultaneously)
- have very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form
It is advantageous if you:
- have relevant and current experience working in front of multiple screens simultaneously under time pressure
