STC is one of Sweden's largest gym chains with over 260 gyms and a wide range of training options within gym and group training. We offer a modern training environment, equipment from world-leading suppliers, and knowledgeable staff, all to create the ultimate meeting place for people of all ages. We agree with WHO, the Public Health Agency, and the government's investigators: we sit still too much. Obesity is increasing, and mental health issues such as depression are becoming more common. But there is a simple solution that works wonders for both body, heart, and brain – movement! But we need your help!
We are currently looking for a Business Controller Manager at 100% for our controlling function. The role is based at our support office in Kungälv, and you will report to the CFO. You will lead a team of two Business Controllers.
Your mission
STC is in a powerful expansion with the goal of continuing to grow by 20% annually, strengthening profitability, and establishing ourselves internationally. We are building a scalable Nordic training platform where data-driven management, strong financial discipline, and business decisions are crucial. As Business Controller Manager, you will play a central role in shaping this growth by creating the models, structures, and analyses that make STC's future business possible and sustainable.
You operate in a fast-paced environment and make complex finance understandable and useful for the entire organization – from CFO and management to operations managers and local gym managers. You will develop and lead the Business Control function and build processes that work in the everyday life of over 260 gyms while being scalable for continued expansion, even outside Sweden. In this role, you will be a business partner to the operations and drive the controller team with a focus on quality in reporting, forecasting, analysis, and KPI monitoring. You will modernize working methods and introduce automation, BI, and AI support that empowers the organization to act faster and more accurately.
Your responsibilities
Be a strategic business partner to management and operations and contribute with financial expertise and business insights.
Lead, prioritize, and further develop the Business Control function and ensure high quality in the team's deliveries.
Develop robust decision-making materials and business cases for investments, new offerings, and establishments.
Own reporting of outcomes, forecasts, and analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Develop dashboards and analytical tools focusing on usability, automation, and scalability.
Drive the development of STC's BI and analytical environment, including predictive analysis and AI-based improvements for management and profitability.
Build processes and financial models that support a rapidly growing chain and enable international expansion.
Function as analytical support to several departments and identify areas for improvement through data-driven insights.
Who are you?
You are an analytical, strategic, and action-oriented leader who makes complex finance simple, clear, and useful for others. You combine strong business understanding with a natural pedagogical approach and create security through clear goals, priorities, and decision-making materials. As a leader, you embody STC's culture: you simplify, clarify, create courage, and drive a learning approach where the team dares to test, improve, and make quick, data-driven decisions. You are unpretentious, work closely with operations, and build an environment characterized by energy, accountability, and community. Above all, you have a growth mindset – you constantly want to develop both people, processes, and business models.
Requirements
Academic degree in finance, preferably with a focus on management accounting or finance.
5–10 years of experience in business controlling, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role or responsible for larger projects and/or strategically important areas.
Experience in financial management, analysis, and monitoring in expansive and fast-paced organizations.
Strong analytical skills and experience with BI solutions, modern reporting tools, and advanced Excel.
Ability to create, implement, and improve processes for reporting, forecasting, and KPI monitoring.
Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English.
It is advantageous if you have experience from retail, the fitness industry, or other chain structures with many units, as well as if you have worked on building or developing Business Controller functions. Experience in BI development, automation, and AI-based decision support is also highly meritorious.
What we offer you!
We offer you a workplace with joy, passion, personality, professionalism, and community. We love training and think it's important to have fun at work. We are a team that challenges each other and is driven by creating results together. As Business Controller Manager, you will play a central role in how we manage and develop STC's business – from investments and establishments to profitability and long-term value. For the right person, this is an opportunity to build a modern, data-driven controlling function in a company that is growing rapidly and wants to become the leading training platform in the Nordics.
STC has over 1800 employees and is part of the family-owned Axel Johnson Group through Bond Health Group.
