About the position The client develops and builds manipulators and special equipment for inspection and testing within the nuclear power industry, a niche with high demands and unique technical challenges. The projects include both Swedish and international assignments, focusing on facilities in countries such as Switzerland, Korea, and the Czech Republic. The role of the designer involves a varied and responsible job, from idea and design to testing, assembly, and on-site usage at the customer's location.
This is a perfect role for you who are driven by technical problem-solving, appreciate small series and customized solutions, and enjoy combining design with practical workshop work.
Your future tasks As a designer, you will work on developing manipulators and tools that are used to scan welds and pipe penetrations in reactor tanks. The work is carried out in close dialogue with both internal colleagues and external customers and suppliers.
- Design and development of customized mechanical equipment
- Creation of prototypes and special tools
- Assembly, testing, and modification in our own workshop
- Work in SolidWorks and some documentation
- Technical problem-solving with a focus on simplicity and functionality
- Participation in field testing and commissioning at the customer's site
- Contact with suppliers for ordering and follow-up
We are looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with a focus on prototyping
- Experience working with CAD programs, preferably SolidWorks
- Valid driver's license (B)
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English
- Ability to undergo a security clearance
Meritorious:
- Experience in tool or product development in individual projects
- Previous work close to manufacturing, workshop, or prototype workshop
- Interest or experience in mechatronics or control systems
