Technical Engineer in GIS and System Management Job Responsibilities

Are you at the beginning of your career and want to work on reducing environmental impact in the maintenance of our roads and railways? This is an opportunity for you if you have a strong interest in environmental issues, system management, and the application of geographic information to facilitate environmental assessment work and contribute to clearer decision-making. Since we have several colleagues, this position is aimed at those who have recently started their careers and have the right drive and a desire to develop both personally and professionally. You will be part of the national environmental unit within Maintenance with expertise in many different environmental areas. In this role, you will participate in environmental work by developing materials, processing data, creating models, and conducting analyses based on geographically linked information in the maintenance of our road and railway facilities.

You will provide support in the area of geographic information and system management and participate in development projects for managing geographic information and asset data. This involves developing and structuring the organization's work within geographic information and system management where the need is increasing to ensure simplified, efficient, and good dialogue in many different projects and collaborations. In this role, you will handle a wide variety of tasks such as map production, processing and providing geographic information, as well as managing IT systems where quality assurance and data review, participation in acceptance tests, documentation, and user support and assistance are included.

You will work closely with environmental specialists, even though the work itself is independent. We work proactively with complex and challenging environmental issues where you, together with your colleagues, develop and strengthen environmental work with data-driven fact-based materials. You will provide geographic information and maps to users both within and outside the Transport Administration. Our main tools for geographic information are the ArcGIS platform and FME.

Qualifications

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who has;

a university degree of at least 180 credits with a focus on landscape science and geographic information systems (GIS) or education combined with experience we consider equivalent
at least one year of current experience working with geographic information systems (GIS) in relation to various landscape issues
a valid driver's license for passenger cars
good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is an advantage if you have;

experience working with geographic information systems (GIS) and databases related to infrastructure operations, preferably roads and railways
experience with the ArcGIS platform
experience with FME Form
experience with the Microsoft Office suite
