We are looking for a laboratory technician to work in substrate production, such as the production of microbiological growth media, chemical solutions, and reagents. The products are sold both internally to the diagnostic operations and externally to customers such as the pharmaceutical industry. About the Workplace, SVA and the Substrate Production Section

The Swedish National Veterinary Institute, SVA, is an expert authority located in the Ultuna area of Uppsala. SVA is a risk-assessing preparedness authority tasked with investigating the emergence, causes, and modes of transmission of infectious animal diseases and participating in their prevention and control. The authority also conducts research. SVA is part of the civil defense and maintains essential societal functions through high veterinary medical competence, monitoring, and accredited laboratories.

The Substrate Production Section (SDS), under the Department of Microbiology (MIK), is engaged in the production and development of microbiological growth media, chemical solutions, and reagents. The products are sold both internally to the diagnostic operations and externally to, among others, the pharmaceutical industry. Job Responsibilities

Production of growth media, reagents, agar products, antibiotics, and chemical solutions. Job responsibilities include manufacturing products as well as quality control and investigations of production and execution. Your role also includes work with digitalization, efficiency improvements, and development work. Cross-sectional work exchanges may occur within the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with relevant scientific YH education or equivalent and work experience in substrate production within one or more areas of microbiology and/or bacteriology.

As a person, you are driven, interested, and self-sufficient; you take initiative and responsibility for your own and the group's tasks, with a focus on the customer and deadlines. You are quality-conscious, used to collaborating with others, and have the common mission in focus. You enjoy working both individually and in a group.

You can easily adapt to changing circumstances and tasks with short notice as the operations are often event-driven. The work requires both practical skills and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge. We place high demands on the ability to communicate in speech and writing in Swedish, as this is a very essential part of performing all different job tasks.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and behavior for the position.

Meritorious

Experience in working and/or problem-solving with chemical solutions or microbiological media. Work experience within GLP/GMP implemented assignments is meritorious.

Conditions

The employment begins with a six-month probationary period, the position is 100% full-time from 2026-02-01 or as agreed. We want the CV and cover letter to be written in Swedish.
