Join us in developing the future of electronic solutions for fire protection

At Firefly, we develop and deliver world-leading fire safety and fire prevention systems for process industries around the globe.

When high precision and robust construction are crucial, your work makes a real difference. We are at the forefront of technology, developing advanced electronic systems for demanding industrial applications. With us, you will have the opportunity to work through the entire chain – from concept and prototype to finished product – alongside experienced colleagues in electronics, software, and mechanics.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow in electronics and sensor development and who thrives in an environment where practical lab work is combined with technical analysis and smart designs. You will work with analog and digital circuits, filtering, signal processing, simpler firmware, and prototype evaluation in our well-equipped lab environments.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in the development of electronic solutions from concept to prototype and finished product
  • Work on schematic design, component selection, and basic PCB layout with senior colleagues
  • Develop sensors and work with analog amplifier stages, A/D conversion, and design of analog and digital filters
  • Contribute to circuit sizing for power, signal processing, communication, and control
  • Create and update BOM, simpler specifications, and production documents
  • Perform basic simulations and calculations in areas such as EMC, thermal, and signal integrity
  • Support the embedded team by programming drivers and firmware
  • Conduct measurements, tests, and verifications on prototypes in the lab environment
  • Troubleshoot and analyze measurement data and suggest improvements
  • Contribute to updated documentation, issue management, and configuration control

Travel Requirements: No travel required, but travel may occur.

To be successful in this role, we see that you have:

  • Experience with electronics and firmware programming
  • Experience in schematic design and PCB design using CAD tools
  • Understanding of basic electronic principles (power supply, signal processing, communication interfaces)
  • Practical experience in lab work and troubleshooting
  • Experience using measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and lab power supplies

Preferred Experience

  • Hobby electronics or personal projects
  • Experience in product development for industrial or certified products
  • Contact with EMS partners or manufacturers

Knowledge Requirements

  • Electrical CAD
  • Basic understanding of EMC
  • Electrical safety

Preferred Knowledge

  • Embedded systems and firmware development

Language Requirements

  • Swedish
  • English

Educational Requirements

  • Engineering degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or similar
  • Alternatively, education in technical physics with a clear interest in electronics
  • We also welcome those without formal education but with solid practical experience and a strong interest in electronics

Preferred Education

  • Courses or specializations in embedded systems

Other Skills

  • Experience programming in C or C++ for embedded systems (preferred)

Personal Attributes

We believe you will thrive in this role if you:

  • Work in a structured manner and value clear documentation
  • Are curious and eager to learn new things
  • Have good problem-solving skills and system understanding
  • Are practical and enjoy lab work
  • Have patience and a strong quality mindset
  • Take responsibility and drive in your tasks

The role can be adapted depending on your background; several years of experience or 1–2 years of experience may be sufficient – what matters is your engagement and interest in electronics.

About the Role

As an electronics developer, you will be an important part of our multidisciplinary development team where you work closely with hardware, firmware, and mechanical developers. You will participate in everything from early concept studies to verification and production preparations. You will have great opportunities to develop, take responsibility, and delve into the areas that interest you the most.
