As a school custodian at Gamleby Folk High School, you work at the heart of the operation – close to our course participants, those living in the dormitory, and the staff.

Your Responsibilities

Your tasks are varied and cover several areas:

• Handling of fault reports from the school's internal operations and dormitory.
• Maintenance and upkeep of the school's buildings, premises, and outdoor environment.
• Ongoing property maintenance – both planned and urgent, including repairs, painting, minor construction work, and inventory supervision.
• Preparations for events and conferences, e.g., furniture arrangement, technical support, and logistics.
• Working with the school's technical systems, e.g., heating and ventilation systems, plumbing, and vehicle fleet.
• Performing minor electrical and plumbing work (within the scope of authorization).
• Collaboration with project managers, contractors, property managers, and operations staff.

About You

You have a documented three-year high school education in operations/maintenance/property management or other education/experience deemed equivalent by the employer. We prefer that you have experience in property management and operations, or a background as a craftsman. Knowledge in areas such as electrical work, plumbing, construction, painting, and repairs is advantageous. A B driver's license is required.

You will meet the school's fantastic participants daily, which means encounters with people of different ages with diverse cultural backgrounds, life situations, and conditions. Gamleby Folk High School has an extensive operation with general courses as well as courses focused on sustainable textiles, media, and photography. The school also trains nursing assistants, leisure leaders, social educators, and teacher assistants. The school is located in Västervik municipality, and all work is based on our core values of “inclusiveness, curiosity, and sustainability.” About 50 employees work at the folk high school.

In the education administration area, there are five basic units, library development, and the four folk high schools: Gamleby Folk High School, Kalmar Folk High School, Vimmerby Folk High School, and Öland Folk High School. The folk high schools offer a wide range of educational programs that contribute to raising the educational level in the region. Library development initiates, leads, and coordinates the region's joint development work in the library sector. We are part of the regional development administration that works together on growth and development issues in Kalmar County.
