We are looking for a chef for the kitchen at Strandängsskolan, which currently prepares meals for Children and Education, but from week 8 will also prepare meals for Care and Support. As a chef, you play an important role; it is you who, together with your colleagues, is responsible for providing our guests with the best dining experience. We prepare as much as possible from scratch using high-quality ingredients. Daily, lunch and dinner are prepared for about 1000 diners within children and education and about 450 portions within care and support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a chef, you have overall responsibility for the kitchen and ensure that everything runs smoothly. You work both weekdays and weekends. The role includes preparing and cooking meals, planning menus, and preparing for upcoming days. You are responsible for ordering food and ensuring that unpacking is done according to food handling guidelines. Cleaning and dishwashing are performed according to self-control routines, and the position may also involve meal transport driving.

An important part of your work is to adapt the diet to the needs of the target group, for example, in the case of food allergies or other requests for special diets. You have good knowledge of nutrition and feel confident in the subject, which allows you to create meals that are both safe and nutritious.

You contribute to a good working environment and are involved in ensuring that the operation functions and develops. You contribute to effective collaboration between the kitchen and the departments. Food waste and sustainability are issues we work with daily, so we see that you are solution-focused and work towards improvement opportunities.

Our diners are important; we aim to serve good and nutritious food as we care about a good dining experience. We work to prepare as much as possible from scratch using high-quality ingredients.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained chef with basic knowledge of food hygiene and nutrition. At least 3 years of experience in restaurants or large kitchens is an advantage. You have a good economic sense and constantly work to minimize food waste. When the pace is high, you remain calm and are flexible. As a person, you are attentive and enjoy working in a team, have good collaboration skills, and have an interest in developing the operation forward.

You should have experience working in a kitchen preparing food and have good knowledge of the rules and guidelines regarding food hygiene and self-control. You also have good knowledge of special diets and food allergies. Furthermore, you have good computer skills and are meticulous in following applicable agreements, guidelines, and budgets regarding purchases.

You are confident in your cooking skills, driven, creative, and solution-focused. You are passionate about meal joy and are naturally positive about cooking for our diners. Furthermore, you communicate clearly and see relationships in their proper perspective. We also see that you have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver well-prepared meals.

The work requires good physical condition in terms of strength, endurance, and mobility. Like us, you see the importance of the meal being the highlight of the day and want to go the extra mile. A B driver's license is required.

OTHER

We offer wellness grants and the opportunity for both salary and vacation pay exchange according to applicable agreements. A smoke-free working time applies. As part of the Family Helsingborg, we collaborate with other municipalities in the region for competence development and experience exchange.
