JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will have a position within the libraries of Tierp municipality, which may involve working at different libraries as needed. The placement will be at the Kulturhuset Möbelns library and initially also at Örbyhus library. Evening and weekend work is included in the position. In Örbyhus, you will work with schools through our school library agreement, including class visits, reading promotion activities, and media and communication knowledge (MIK), as well as with the general public performing regular librarian duties. You will be involved in the selection of the library's media. You will also participate in various development groups within the organization.

You will also be responsible for the library's task of booking events and activities, as well as administering applications and reports within Skapande Skola and Kulturslingan. Kulturslingan is part of Tierp municipality's initiative to offer at least one cultural experience for all students from preschool to high school each academic year.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are primarily looking for someone with a degree in library and information science or, alternatively, another post-secondary degree that the employer deems relevant for the position. You have experience working in library services aimed at children, youth, and adults. Experience in reading promotion work with youth is a plus. You should have good knowledge of literature in general. You actively work to promote the joy of reading. Booking performances and activities within Skapande Skola and Kulturslingan for children and youth requires great accuracy and a structured approach. Contact with both actors and school cultural representatives is an important part of this work.

You contribute ideas and innovative thinking and are an important part of the development of library services, as well as collaboration within culture and leisure and other municipal activities. Experience and high competence in IT, digitization, MIK, and social media are required. Experience with the library system Quria is an advantage.

A structured approach, service mindset, stress resilience, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to take on and execute challenges are important qualities for the position. The libraries in Tierp welcome all visitors, and you are comfortable meeting people based on their needs and abilities. We value good communication, teamwork, and responsiveness. For work with children and youth, a police certificate must be presented before employment.

Tierp municipality belongs to the Finnish administrative area. If you also speak Finnish in addition to our other competency requirements, it can be an asset.
