Technology, Photography, and Precision

Stepping into Bofors Test Center means becoming part of an environment where technology, safety, and accuracy are woven together in every workday.

Here, processes are documented that cannot be seen with the naked eye, and the camera becomes an advanced tool for capturing data and analyzing behaviors. It is precisely the combination of technology and photography that makes the role unique.

The Engineer Profile that Complements the Team

The team you are joining consists of experienced technical photographers with broad photographic skills and the ability to rig equipment in demanding environments. To complement the group, Bofors Test Center is now looking for a colleague who brings a clearer technical approach – someone who sees the camera as a measuring instrument rather than just creating a “nice picture”.

This role suits you if you have a technical inclination; for example, you might have an engineering degree or another technical background and enjoy understanding why things work, not just how. It may also be that you have a technical career foundation but have always had photography on the side; here you finally get the opportunity to combine both aspects. You don’t need an advanced CV in photography, but you should be comfortable with a DSLR and manual settings as the camera will be your primary tool. We also believe that you have a curiosity that makes you eager to delve into both the optics and physics behind a process.

Much of the specialization will be learned in the role, but there is also great value in bringing your own technical perspectives, problem-solving mindset, or knowledge from other areas. The team looks forward to a colleague who complements, challenges, and adds a new way of thinking.

The Work Environment and Role

The testing operations move between bunkers, test sites, mobile containers, and editing in the office. Tasks and work patterns vary depending on testing plans and technical conditions, creating a day-to-day experience where few days are alike.

This can involve rigging high-speed cameras at the muzzle or target area, running cabling and syncing trigger signals, working with special cameras in varying environments, closely collaborating with test leaders and engineers, or focusing more on analysis and post-processing of material. The role is technical, practical, and often outdoors – and almost always in a team.

To give a sense of the breadth of the work:

  • rigging and handling high-speed and other advanced camera technology
  • syncing and troubleshooting triggers, cabling, and measurement equipment
  • documenting processes that require millisecond precision
  • close collaboration with test leaders, shooting technicians, and engineers
  • post-processing and delivery of video material to clients
  • maintenance and care of equipment and rigs

The work is guided by testing plans and the demands of technology, creating a varied and eventful everyday life with clear direction and an important purpose.

The Culture and Context

Bofors Test Center is known for its strong team spirit and its down-to-earth, unpretentious culture. Here, people work in changing constellations and are used to solving problems together. There is a calmness in the way of working, while the team is curious and eager to develop.

Many stay for a long time precisely because of the combination of high technical standards, unique environments, and warm colleagues that create a climate that stands out. Here you get both responsibility and the opportunity to broaden your skills in a business that is growing and evolving with its surroundings.
