IT Manager at Malmö Opera
Malmö Opera is the heart and voice of music drama in Skåne. The house was inaugurated in 1944 and is centrally located in the Öresund region, just 20 minutes from Copenhagen. The stage is one of the largest in Europe and the amphitheater-style auditorium accommodates 1500 visitors. We perform classical, modern, and newly written music drama. Malmö Opera has over 285 permanent employees and engages 500–700 performers each season. During a season, we produce over 300 performances for the main stage as well as for children's, youth, and touring activities. We are now looking for an IT Manager to lead our IT department. About the role:
As IT Manager at Malmö Opera, you will have independent operational responsibility for driving and developing our IT operations. Your main tasks will involve ensuring that our technical solutions function smoothly and support our goals, strategies, and artistic visions.
The role requires a practical and solution-oriented approach, where you work both strategically and are operationally involved in daily tasks. You will have many points of contact within the organization, and together with your colleague in the IT department, you will address all IT-related inquiries from operations and maintenance to system architecture.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to build trust and engagement and be responsive to the organization’s needs. You have a strong interest in IT-related issues and keep yourself updated on the rapid developments in the field. Good service is part of your DNA, and you easily create connections and interact with others. You are driven, responsible, unpretentious, and always ready to go the extra mile.
As IT Manager at Malmö Opera, you will also provide IT support to Malmö City Theatre and assist with their IT solutions in their premises.
You will belong to the administrative section, which includes Finance, Payroll, IT, and Service Center, and report directly to the Administrative Manager/CFO.
Your responsibilities include:
- IT Infrastructure: Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and further development of our IT systems, including servers, virtualization, SAN, networks, cloud services, and cybersecurity. Compliance with relevant regulations.
- Technical Support: Ensure that the organization has access to reliable and innovative technology and relevant digital tools.
- Cost Efficiency: Optimize and monitor the IT budget and IT-related agreements. Conduct procurements of products and services and ensure that our technical investments create maximum benefit for the organization. Order and follow up on our external services from suppliers.
Your experience and qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary education in IT or other education deemed relevant by the employer. Malmö Opera operates in an international context, so good knowledge of both Swedish and English is a prerequisite.
- Experience: Documented experience working operationally and strategically with IT in various environments. You have experience and knowledge of procuring IT-related services. You have experience in leadership and are accustomed to working with budgets.
- Technical Skills: Good knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, cloud services, and cybersecurity. Extensive experience with Microsoft AD, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, GPO, PowerShell, VLAN, Windows Server, and Windows 11 Pro is required. It is a plus if you have also worked with Microsoft MDT, DNS, HPE Aruba, and Veeam. Experience with Digital Asset Management systems is an advantage.

You are loyal, meticulous, and have high integrity. You are creative and interested in supporting our artistic processes with technical solutions. You are pedagogical, good at communicating, and making complex solutions understandable for different target groups.
