Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management
You will be part of an environment engaged in research, education, and collaboration focused on management and governance related to existing outdoor environments, primarily in urban contexts.
About the Job
We are looking for a researcher in governance and management of landscapes with a focus on biodiversity for the subject group Landscape Governance and Management (LGM). The subject of the position is in the processes surrounding governance and management of landscapes, including forests, from theory development to knowledge of practical management, with a particular focus on biodiversity.
The new researcher is expected to contribute to ongoing projects on management for biodiversity and stormwater management locally, nationally, and internationally, as well as actively secure funding for new projects. A central part of the position is responsibility for education and related teaching, primarily in the undergraduate programs in forestry & landscape and landscape engineering, but also in various master's programs.
The position requires collaboration with colleagues in the subject group, at the department, and in various national and international contexts. The work involves the use of social science approaches, primarily qualitative methods such as surveys, workshops, and interviews, involving groups such as planners, managers, and various user groups.
Your Background
Qualifications Required:
- PhD in a subject that provides a governance perspective on landscapes and forests
- Experience in conducting and publishing research focused on governance and management of landscapes related to biodiversity
- Experience working with research independently, in collaborations, and in international contexts
- Experience in social science approaches and qualitative research methods such as surveys, workshops, and interviews
- Experience in teaching related to landscape governance and management
- Completed courses in higher education pedagogy
- Documented ability to communicate in written and spoken English
Meritorious Qualifications:
- Experience in course or program responsibility at the university level
- Ability to communicate research to both academic and broader audiences
- Experience from practice related to forestry and/or landscapes
About Us
At the Department of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (LAPF), there are about 90 employees conducting research, education, and environmental monitoring related to planning, design, management, and vegetation of landscapes in urban and rural environments, in Sweden and internationally. The subject group Landscape Governance and Management (LGM) has a particular focus on how governance and management processes can lead to maintained and increased qualities, for example, for various values and user groups.
