School Librarian

We are now starting an organization for coordinated school librarians to increase equity and quality within primary and adapted primary schools.

We plan for six school librarians to form a team with great opportunities for collaboration and development within the team. Welcome to challenge and be challenged together with us!

The role of the school librarian with us

You now have the opportunity to help build the organization and shape the mission in an innovative and forward-looking way. You will meet and inspire our students from preschool to grade 9 on a daily basis and will have close collaboration with the other school librarians in the team.

A pedagogical mission

You will work with initiatives in reading promotion and media and information literacy (MIK) in close collaboration with teachers and with a strong connection to teaching. As part of the school's pedagogical staff, you will work based on the mission in the curriculum that the school library's activities are used as part of teaching to strengthen students' language skills and digital competence.

You will collaborate with one of your colleagues in the team around the school library activities in primary schools within a pedagogical area. You will be placed at one school but work at several schools and are expected to travel between them.

Together with a teacher-librarian at each school, you will also handle certain administrative tasks such as purchasing, weeding, library systems, and Legimus. Other basic functions in the school library are handled by the teacher-librarian.

Your closest colleagues will consist of the school librarians in the team as well as teacher-librarians, teachers, and principals at the schools. You will also have support from and collaborate with the administration's school library coordinator in the development of the new organization for school libraries.

Your profile

It is obvious to you to always have the best interests of the student in mind, and you are driven to meet and help children and young people. You are a role model for others, you inspire, motivate, and have personal care as the basis of your work and in your relationships with your colleagues. Of course, you are cooperative and adapt your tasks for the benefit of the team when the day presents unforeseen events. You express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing, as required in daily work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a relevant academic degree for the position, preferably a degree in library and information science.
• Has a B driver's license.

It is meritorious:

• If you have experience from the role of school librarian.
• If you have experience from the role of children's and/or youth librarian.
• If you have experience in conducting training and workshops as well as speaking in front of groups.
