Firefighter for the Rescue Service Mjölby/Boxholm
We are Mjölby Municipality. Together we deliver services and functions, build communities, and exercise authority. Our work benefits society with a focus on the best interests of citizens – throughout their lives.
The Community Building Administration is one of Mjölby Municipality's six administrations, responsible for several central community functions. With approximately 450 employees, we work with planning, development, and management of the municipality's infrastructure, properties, parks, and outdoor environments. The administration is also responsible for water and sewage operations, waste management, meal services, cleaning, and rescue services.
The rescue services in Mjölby and Boxholm collaborate under the common name Rescue Service Mjölby/Boxholm. In the operational rescue service, the rescue chief has overall responsibility for six incident commanders and five shift teams, each consisting of a team leader and four firefighters. At the part-time station in Skänninge, there are three shift teams with two part-time firefighters each.
In the preventive work against accidents, the rescue chief has overall responsibility for systematic fire protection work towards municipal administrations and businesses in the municipality. The rescue service also has an external training department with a training leader.
Do you want a varied and challenging job where you, as a firefighter, participate in and are responsible for many different types of tasks?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
No two days are alike; we are looking for someone who wants a varied job where one day you are instructing a group of people, and the next day you are responding to operational emergency services. This requires you to have a good hand with various tools, as well as having no problem speaking in front of groups of people, large or small.
You will participate operationally in all rescue missions or assignments and exercises. You will participate in or lead certain exercises/training for other staff. You will contribute to the rescue service's accident prevention activities regarding information, training, study visits, etc.
You will participate in or, in some cases, be responsible for work within the rescue service's main or support processes, such as exercise activities, vehicles, rescue equipment, electrical work, etc. Additionally, you will participate in and contribute to the daily operations of the rescue service both on and off the station.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with at least 3 semesters from a 2-year post-secondary education in accident prevention (SMO) or equivalent full/part-time training according to the older education system. You meet the medical requirements for smoke and chemical diving. You are approved as a smoke diver in accordance with AFS 2007:7 (attach a valid treadmill test 5.0 km/h 8-degree incline with your application).
You have swimming skills equivalent to the gold badge (attach a certificate no older than 3 months).
You hold a B driver's license (C license is an advantage).
You have practical skills adapted to the various tasks that may arise during operational interventions. You have the ability to follow instructions, procedures, legal requirements, and policies, and adhere to set timelines.
You have the ability to work with others; to listen, show empathy, and respect. You are unpretentious and recognize and reward the contributions of others.
You have the ability to speak clearly and exude credibility and confidence. You have the ability to hold presentations, lectures, and training sessions and adapt them to the needs and feedback of the target audience.
You have the ability to perform in a pressured environment and handle difficult situations. You remain optimistic in the face of challenges and have the ability to accept and learn from criticism.
We are a safe and sustainable employer. Large enough to offer employees good working conditions and exciting development opportunities. Small enough for close collaboration, participation, and influence.
With a focus on our mission to benefit society, we allow room for personal responsibility and creativity. Together, we drive the municipality and sustainable community development forward.
