Curator for Art Exhibition
We are looking for an experienced and artistically driven curator who will take the lead in developing and executing Museum Anna Nordlander's contemporary art exhibition at SARA Kulturhus in spring 2027.
Based on Museum Anna Nordlander's mission to be a meeting place for contemporary art and issues of identity and gender, you will create an exhibition that reflects the contemporary moment we are in and contributes to strengthening MAN's position as a contemporary and relevant art institution locally, regionally, and nationally.
The assignment involves working both strategically and operationally with the entire exhibition process – from idea to finished exhibition – in line with MAN's mission and artistic profile. The exhibition is a central project for MAN's activities in 2027, and we are therefore looking for a person who can take significant responsibility and work independently in close dialogue with the museum's team.
Are you ready to shape the future with us?
We are looking for someone who works within contemporary art, has experience producing exhibitions, possesses a broad artistic network, and the ability to work independently while building strong collaborations. You have an understanding of the technical and spatial conditions of the exhibition space. You are knowledgeable about art, curious, and bold in your artistic choices. As a person, you are responsible, solution-oriented, unpretentious, and have good communication skills.
Qualifications
At least three years of experience curating contemporary art exhibitions of high artistic quality and documented experience of taking ideas all the way to a finished exhibition.
Higher education in art and/or curatorial studies, or equivalent qualified work experience.
Enjoy working independently but also in dialogue with other artists, technicians, and colleagues.
It is an advantage if you have a degree from an art school or university with an artistic focus, as well as experience working with gender issues and norm-critical perspectives.
We place great importance on personal suitability and the feasibility of the proposed exhibition idea within the framework of MAN's mission.
Application
The deadline for applications is December 14, 2025.
Applications should be sent to [email protected].
In your application, please include a personal letter, CV, portfolio, and a concrete exhibition idea.
The exhibition idea should include a concept description and project plan, as well as an idea for the visual presentation (max 5000 characters).
Interviews will be held with selected candidates where ideas and technical conditions will be further explored. Decisions will be made based on the artistic quality of the exhibition idea, feasibility, and how well the idea aligns with MAN's mission and budget.
The exhibition idea will be juried, and jury members will participate in selection, interviews, and decisions. The jury consists of individuals with extensive insight into the art scene in the north and deep knowledge of art and art exhibitions, as well as a representative from Museum Anna Nordlander who is the client.

Museum Anna Nordlander (MAN) is a living museum in constant motion. We are curious, experimental, and fearless – tackling both difficult and current issues with openness. Our activities are based on dialogue, diversity, and audience participation. We operate in several locations, including Sara Kulturhus and Nordanå in Skellefteå, where we create meeting places for artists, writers, musicians, dancers, students, and anyone who wants to engage with contemporary art. Since the mid-1990s, we have played a groundbreaking role in highlighting the stories of female artists in our collection and problematizing concepts such as gender, identity, and norms. Our program combines international participation with local issues and contributes to developing the conditions for contemporary art throughout the Västerbotten Region. MAN is part of Skellefteå museum.
