The ambulance service is a county-wide operation that is constantly evolving to provide the best possible care for patients. The operation conducts ambulance care and patient transport services and includes about 200 employees. The staffing in the ambulance has previously consisted exclusively of licensed nurses, but as part of providing accessible ambulance care, we are now hiring ambulance caregivers for the operation. We have stations in Härnösand, Kramfors, Sollefteå, Sundsvall, and Örnsköldsvik and offer temporary positions, hourly or permanent employment within the Region.

We are now looking for you who are a trained ambulance caregiver or nursing assistant with previous emergency care experience, or you who are a nursing/medical student with an interest in ambulance care!

The positions are temporary for the summer of 2026 on a full-time basis with start date according to agreement.

In the role of ambulance caregiver, you will work in an ambulance and/or in patient transport vehicles. In the ambulance, you work in a team with a nurse, where you collaborate to provide the best possible care for the patient. In the patient transport vehicle, you work independently primarily performing transport of patients who need to travel with a care resource but do not require ambulance care during transport. You meet patients in varying environments and spend a lot of time outdoors. The tasks range from caring for patients who have suffered acute illness or injury to nursing and transporting patients with non-acute conditions.

The ambulance service in Region Västernorrland maintains high quality, and with us, you have good opportunities to develop in the role of ambulance caregiver. We offer a secure onboarding program where you work under supervision and develop through internal training. During your initial time with us, you will always work alongside an experienced nurse when working in the ambulance. The job requires good physical endurance. Before employment, you will undergo a suitability test in the form of a fitness test, driving test, and an assessment of medical knowledge.

The profession consists of a large part of driving, and you must demonstrate good judgment in traffic. A B driver's license is a requirement for employment, and a C driver's license is required for work in the ambulance. If you lack a C driver's license and do not fall under exemptions (B driver's license obtained before 1996-07-01, without revocation after this date), the ambulance service will cover the cost of a training package for a C driver's license or C1 qualification.

We are looking for you who

• Have one of the following qualifications:
  • Are a trained ambulance caregiver with one year of work experience
  • Are a nursing student with 4 approved semesters
  • Are a medical student with 4 approved semesters
  • Are a trained nursing assistant. Experience in emergency care is an advantage
• Have good knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing
• Have a B driver's license
• Have two years of driving experience
• You must be able to present a driving license permit group 2/3 (application is made via the Transport Agency)
