We are looking for a design manager for the POP program Mälarbanan at the Swedish Transport Administration in Stockholm. 

This is a consulting assignment. You will be employed by Centio Consulting Group AB and work as a consultant.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

Mälarbanan is a railway project between Stockholm and Örebro, and the Mälarbanan Program includes the stretch from Tomteboda to Kalhäll, which will receive four tracks instead of the previous two. Along the route, three new stations will also be built. With the expansion, commuter trains can be separated from other traffic (long-distance trains, regional trains, and freight trains), allowing for more frequent services, better punctuality, and shorter travel times. There are requirements for internal coordination between other units. The current assignment is located in the sub-project Sundbyberg-Solna. Required design work is expected to begin no earlier than after the summer of 2025. Full production of the developed construction documents is expected to start no earlier than Q2 - 2028. The work consists of earthworks and construction works for a four-track railway facility. The construction work mainly consists of heavy civil engineering works corresponding to retaining walls, concrete troughs, and extensive concrete tunnels. BIM is used throughout the project, and the design must be model-oriented.

The assignment also includes assisting other departments within the large projects area as needed, within the framework of the utilization rate. The assignment includes transferring knowledge to employees at the Swedish Transport Administration regarding the tasks that the resource consultant performs for the Swedish Transport Administration. As a design manager, you will work within project management, and the work is carried out in close collaboration with primarily the Project Manager, Coordinating Design Manager, and Project Organization, as well as external stakeholders. Responsibilities

The design manager's responsibilities include: • Leading the design work towards established goals within the assigned area of responsibility • Supporting and reporting to the Project Manager and Coordinating Design Manager, according to established routines. • Ensuring that set goals and requirements are met • Participating in the design and planning process. • Ensuring that the work is carried out in good cooperation • Monitoring the design work of suppliers/contractors and coordinating with the project's technical support, construction managers, data coordinators, and BIM specialists. • Contributing to the development of working methods and routines for design tailored to the scope and needs of the assignment, as well as ensuring that work environment and safety are considered in the design. • Ensuring coordination of design within and between suppliers/contractors. Participating in work on requirements management, work environment risks, risk management, time, cost, and forecasting work. • Identifying and managing risks • Finding and packaging tasks in previously developed documents and model files • Leading/participating in meetings such as design meetings, technical meetings, working meetings, etc. • Leading/participating in working forums with external parties • Preparing materials and monitoring constructability when developing railway plans, environmental impact assessments, etc. • Monitoring the work of technical specialists • Reviewing documents and models • Identifying problem areas and critical moments • Other relevant tasks

Requirements (IMPORTANT, mandatory)

 University/college education equivalent to a Swedish master's degree in engineering with a relevant focus, or other education or experience deemed equivalent by the client.  At least 4 years of experience in the role of design manager.  Design manager for at least 1 project concerning a technically complex construction project with a contract volume corresponding to at least 500 million SEK. A technically complex construction project refers here to a construction project containing geotechnical works (such as shoring and pile foundations), civil engineering works (such as tunnels and retaining walls), and rock works (such as excavation for tunnels and/or foundations).  At least 3 years of experience in production or design work of construction structures.  Good knowledge of relevant standard agreements such as AB, ABK, ABT.  Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious 

Experience in implementing construction projects with collaboration/partnering. The consultant has knowledge and experience working with the Swedish Transport Administration's technical regulations and administrative requirements. Documented experience and competence as a designer or project engineer in the field of civil engineering. Documented experience of working with digital models for design and illustration.
