Exhibition Technician at the Cultural Administration

About the Position

As an exhibition technician in the Cultural Administration, you will be involved in the production of exhibitions for the administration's museums, visitor sites, and touring exhibitions.

The focus is on new production, but maintenance and remodeling of existing exhibitions are also a natural part of the job.

As an exhibition technician, you are responsible for preparing and building exhibitions in collaboration with colleagues. The work includes problem-solving, being self-sufficient, and enjoying collaboration with both internal and external colleagues.

You will work practically with interior carpentry, constructions, installation of sound, light, and technology, as well as procurement.

You will build permanent, temporary, and touring exhibitions and be involved from the drawing stage to the finished product. There are also popup variants that can be placed in, for example, shopping centers and family centers. Planning takes place in project groups where you can either sit as an expert in your field or as project leader for the construction process. Depending on the need, there may also be AV technicians and representatives with other skills in the project group.

Production primarily takes place in our workshop in Vänersborg. However, you will also build exhibitions at the administration's museums and visitor sites throughout the region, so the position involves some travel. You will sometimes work as the sole exhibition technician and at other times together with other technicians and exhibition producers.

The work includes touring our traveling exhibitions and assembling them on site. Therefore, a driving license with at least B category is a requirement.

Environmental awareness and cost-effectiveness are important guiding principles in the operation.

Your Profile

You have good organizational skills and extensive experience in interior carpentry. You have education and experience in design and construction both at the desk and in carpentry.

Knowledge and interest in new multimedia tools is a plus. It is an asset if you have experience in lighting design, AV technology, procurement, and installation of multimedia. We are looking for someone who is handy, creative, attentive, and solution-oriented with good collaboration skills and social competence.

You enjoy working towards deadlines. The work requires precision and organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and in a group.

If you are a creative problem solver with great social competence who easily and naturally creates good collaborations, you will thrive with us. A plus if you are interested in nature and cultural heritage issues.

A driving license with at least B category is a requirement.
